I think it is great to interact with the vendors but sometimes it does get annoying.

Me as well. I've been "stepped on" by a vendor or two that have literally jumped in and taken over threads, so bad in fact, that I actually had to complain.

I feel that some of them have been way too aggressive in pushing their stuff and need to chill.

IMO There's a fine line between participating in a "Which CAI should I buy" thread, vs. a "You should buy my CAI because" thread.

I'd like to give some input here as a vendor.

First off, posting any sales or promotion thread in the tech section is good for everyone IMO unless it gets out of hand. Looking at sites that have a seperate vendor forum, those forums are dead. So not only do many users not see the specials, vendors don't bother posting them because no one sees them. That's one thing I like about this site.

I'm probably just as guilty of jumping in a thread to give my opinion, however biased it may be. I feel I have alot to offer based on my experience and truly am interested in just helping out. Ask Faber for an example of this. Sometimes I can come off a bit harsh but I see too many cars come across my dyno that were built by too many bad opinions on the internet. So if I can help prevent that a bit and save everyone (including myself) a headache, I'm going to chime in.

As any board grows, things like this become a problem where there never was one. But I would like the management here to figure out a way to make it work. Maybe put a limit on the number of threads started in the tech sections by vendors on a month by month basis.

I have no problem with a vendor voicing his/her opinion or real life experience. That's what forums are all about. It's when a member asks a question, for example about a driveshaft. The vendor jumps in and offers nothing better than, "We sell this, give me a call." That just gets old.
Pushing a product is a lot different than offering advice based on facts and real life experience.

I like having an informed opinion floating around on here too. If they are less than honest or just off base usually they get called out on it pretty quick. Everyone on here is pretty cool about most things that get posted. There is a genuine level of respect that comes forward and that's why I have stuck around for 3.5 years. You can't beat Brads site IMO

I think your missing the point, touring. It's not about interacting with vendors, that's the best part of having them around to learn from, by giving advice so we don't make stupid mistakes.

what they mean is when vendors POP into threads and try and sell their product because it's better and bashing someone elses stuff calling it garbage or whatever. It's counterproductive and just irritating. Who wants it? Not me... However ,it does sometimes make for juicy reading

+2 but I like the vendor's on here. I'm new to some of this stuff and I like to hear their input. Wish breenspeed would still post.

I have no problem with having the vendors in here. I love the feedback. But there is one vendor in particular that will jump in to hawk their stuff any chance they can get. If you ask "where can I get the best price on the Cervini's C500 hood?", they might reply with saying they sell Steeda hoods and contact them for a discount. I've seen them do this 3 or 4 times, and it's a bit annoying. Otherwise, I have no problems with them being on here. I've bought many things from Marcello, and have a good business relationship with him because of the interaction that is allowed with vendors.

Thanks for everyones input as it is appreciated. We are discussing some possible changes for the near future and all aspects are being taken into consideration.

If anyone wants to discuss anything of this nature discretely, please feel free to PM myself or svopaul.
