Why does it need to be resized? I just uploaded it as my avatar as is and worked fine!
Upload it from your hard drive, not the imageshack link as links need to be smaller files. Uploads will resize, but I don't know if there is a limit there.
If that still don't work and is too big, just right click your pic above and save it, then upload it. Thats what I did.

Then upload it for your avatar.
