tranny troubles mt82
Anyone have suggestion for 1-2 shift crunch on a mt82 trans in a 2013 gt?? Dealer seems a bit lost, never heard of Ford XL-18 additive, sent me home still grinding (or crunching).Seems they have to get permission to do even minor stuff like draining the fluid to check for metal 1600 miles,,btw.Feel free to comment....John

Ok, I have heard of the additive and from what I have read in these forums it has not really fixed anything. IMHO if your dealer is stumped, you should take it to another dealer. It seems you may have been bitten by the dreaded China MT-82 syndrome. There is a Ford rep that is very good at advice and getting TMS'ers problems fixed but I can't remember the persons name off the top of my head. Ill try and go search for it. Others on this forum may be of better help to get you a faster solution.

In the search bar type in " what's wrong with my transmission". There is a good thread to read up on and the persons name I was telling you about is "Deysha". This person has been on lots of threads and may be able to help you.
Just as a FYI, my 2014 shifts really poorly in temps below 60 degrees. I am planning on changing out the shifter to a MGW but I have a feeling there is something else wrong due to it locking me out once at a red light ( I had to put it in neutral, push the clutch in and out and then it would go in gear). Second instance was a complete mid shift from 4th to 5th ( I was really getting on it, about 6k rpm) and man did it grind. I'm sure I had something to do with it but the gates seem to close up under load or the trans is binding the shifter under load. I have my car stored for the winter but in the spring if there is one more instance its going in for service. I'm a bit lucky I bought mine from Tasca Ford. They have some excellent mechanics there.
Regards,
