New to me 08 Convertible 4.0L V6

Hi everyone,

Found this forum tonight looking for ways to raise the passenger seat on our new to us 08 V6 4.0L Mustang convertible.

Anyways here's a photo or 2 of the car.

Hello! and welcome aboard.. To my knowledge, only the driver's side seat can be adjusted to raise/lower.. My 2006 GT premium coupe is the same way to which the passenger side seat can only be adjusted manually to move from front to rear. Meanwhile, hope this addresses your question and also thanks for sharing images of your new to you 2008 4.0L convertible, she's a real beauty

I see a bunch of discussions as to why it can't be done but guess my own investigation will either find a way or come into agreement with the rest of the world of 5th gen Mustang owners. LOL!

Nice very clean looking car, looks like the previous owner took very good care of her. Congrats and welcome.

Not sure about the '09s, but the later models of the S197 offered a power option for the passenger side. Mine has it and it allows for raising and lowering of the passenger seat. May need to check into some kind of a conversion to a power seat.

I will check it out.

right now it appears to be easy on the back of the seat.
the front of the seat just needs a couple of offset brackets.
There’s a local fabrication shop nearby that I can have made up.

on the other hand, I have found even simpler solution here
adding spacer blocks will do the trick on top of the seat rail instead of below it.

Mine only offered manual seat adjustments for the driver's seat only. The passenger seat has none because the Boss version was void of any weight adding devices. But honestly a seat adjustment for the passenger would have been nice.

First off! Your initial post was a question in regards to if there's a way to raise/lower the passenger side seat on your 2008 S197 model? My response was interpreted as meaning that you were unaware of the fact that the 2005-08 S197 models did not include the option for lowering/raising the passenger side seat.

That being said, unless you somehow are able to do a retrofit from the later S197 models? there is no other way it can be done!

Um... actually....

https://parts.lakelandford.com/p/For...Z6361710A.html

That's for an '08. But wait, there's more! It's also for any Mustang 2007 through 2014. So says the parts fiche. So says me all. Or something like that, it's a Battlestar Galactica reboot kind of thing.

Now, as to the wiring harness, the seat valence cover and switchgear, yes, all that's available too. This should be a semi-plug and play thing for the '08 vert here.

It's not all that common, true, for whatever reason, but there ya go. Hope it helps!

So does the $649.50 for the seat adjuster assembly justify the cost just in order to raise/lower the passenger side seat? which btw: also doesn't include the cost for the wiring harness, seat valance cover and switchgear and lets also not forget the power seat handles as well.

At the end of the day, the OP might be better off looking into getting a passenger side seat from a salvage yard, Craig's list, OEM take off parts, or e-bay which came from a 2007-14 GT premium that has the power seat assembly included for less than it would cost for purchasing the track seat adjuster assembly, wiring harness, switchgear, power seat handles and seat valance cover separately

I agree.

Going to go with the more modest expense way with spacers

Ah. Well, dang. I wasn't sayin you had to spend money, I was just sayin' it's there, was there, such like that.

Me, I might have looked into acquiring a junkyard driver's one that works and making it bolt up to the passenger side and wire it up to work...

/Which I can do, actually, seeing how I have a spare driver's side power seat track. Of course, the moment I do that to the passenger seat, the driver one will quit, watch.

Or look into acquiring a passenger side seat from a junkyard for 2007-14 GT premium models which have the power seat track.. This way, the OP doesn't have to mess around with wiring anything up or any retrofitting involved to work.. Anyhow, just a thought

Thanks for the suggestion.

I have called around and strangely there are no wrecked Mustangs in the area...

The drivers here must all be law abiding driving citizens not partaking in the laying down of rubber to asphalt thus resulting in untimely meeting of car & ditches here.

Strange this is...
