Talking

I did the same for my daughter last week. Her boyfriend was smiling for days. My dad let me use his 76 Chrysler Cordoba for my prom. The memory of driving a cool car to the prom lasts a lifetime.

I am debating that...My sons prom is next Saturday and he is already begging. I think I would be a basket case till he returned.
You're gonna be a basket case until he returns anyway. Might as well make his night for him. But, make a contract with him (written) that he will call you at any time of day or night if he has anything to drink and you will come drive him around. He may just decide not to take the car.

I wish my dad would have had something as cool as my Mustang for me to drive to my prom. I belive he would have let me drive it, but I was the youngest of 5 so he was driving a 4 door sedan by that time. I think the coolest car my dad had was a 68 Ford 500Xl 2 door with the 390 engine. My older brothers got to drive it and when my dad asked if they burned any rubber , my bother Terry admitted he did. He said" you wouldnt want me to let a Chevy beat me would you?" My brother was a bit of a smart hiney back then anyway.

I take my son and his friend to the Y to work out and they both still ooh and aah about my car. And my sons friend has a 91 Mustang with all sorts of mods of course.

As for the back set in these cars, they aint no 4 door sedan , the back seats are only good for a local trip, I doubt any boy could convince any girl to climb in there for any thing other than a short trip, let alone any mischeif.
Yeah, and even if he could persuade her to do so, it would be a very constraining experience. :bang:

I guess since Jesse (the kid with my car) knew I was a cop and I had told him ALL of my buddies would be out looking for my car if he did anything crazy, I never really worried about it. I really think he was more into driving my car than he was into the prom. Something about no back roads or places he could go parking for fear of being spotted by the boys in blue. :cop2: :cop2:

My wife and I graduated in 1968 (OLD!) and a friend's "lawyer father" went out and rented his son a Hertz Shelby GT350H Mustang for the prom. Of course the insurance clearly stated that only drivers over the age of 25 were covered.

After a night of partying, the Shelby ended up sliding down the culvert of a country road at more than 130 MPH before finally slamming into a concrete culvert. The car was totalled, our friend luckily wasn't killed- and the "lawyer father" despite all of his attempts at avoiding the obvious- ended up having to pay for the destroyed Shelby out of his own pocket. It made for a VERY expensive Prom night!

Fast Mustangs and Prom can some sometimes make a dangerous combination!!
