Greetings from Seattle
Out to replace my PU truck and looking hard at a Mustang. Went and drove a GT stick and 10 speed auto but really impressed with the 4 cylinder turbo model for less money and the stick with leather option. Anyway here to learn and decide weather to stay with the Big V8 or turbo 4... :^)

If I were buying today and the roads I drive around the western WA area I would pretty likely get the EcoBoost as I did not see or feel much difference on these roads in a back to back test ride within legal speeds and curvy roads. I even had my sound meter out and the exhaust/road noise measured the same 104 db from the passenger side of the car. That was a surprise. I really like the leather option on the EB but not the small info screen on either.
I just recently read that for 2020 the EB will be coming with the perf package and quad pipes also...

Greeting From The Mile-High City(Denver)! I remember test driving a new SVO and was really impressed with that performance so a new Ecoboost is even more of a option and could save a few bucks at the dealer.

I really love my Coyote, but if you are looking for a daily driver and want performance and fuel economy the EcoBoost cars sound like the best of both worlds. As for me I have a daily driver and this is my toy. So, I prefer to have the power and sound of a good ole V8 under the hood. Love that rumble.

Stay with the 8 on ur plate
4cylinder turbo on 16lbs of boost vs American v8 or 3.7 an get twin turbos? The ford gt has 3.7 twin turbo and its mindblowing. The barra 6cylinder was king of boost after years of refining. The 4cylinder turbo has yet to pass testing stages. But u will regret 4 after fords runarounds with warranty work. Dont drive a stang for fuel economy please

Being an old V8 Chevy guy it was a leap of faith to me to buy into the ecoboost motor and the possible problems. Pouring over the forums led me to believe it was safe to buy. I have no regrets after 1 month of ownership. I had the ability to drive and evaluate ALL the midsize PU trucks and was headed to buy with cash the Honda Ridgline but after comparing all the features Ford includes versus the competition of Honda/Toyota/GM it was a no brainer for the Ranger. The motor is so remarkable and so potent I have to be careful as it is very easy to get up to speed for a freeway entrance or passing situation with NO turbo lag. They have programmed a lot of power into it by 3000 rpm. The safety features of "Ford 360" including BLIS - includes even pulling a trailer and electric folding mirrors is great and not nanny prone or too sensitive. It is not as comfy inside as my full size but no more or less than any of the other rigs either. The Ridgeline has a bigger interior though and more cargo room. Built quality seems to be on par with others brands. Ride is, well, like a truck. I wish I had opted for leather seats is all. IT is by far the MOST TRUCK I could have gotten for $35,000 dollars + T+L. as far as I am concerned and I can tow 7500 lbs. I could have gotten a F150 even more well outfitted but the LARGE size truck turns me off now. I had a deal on the table but walked on it. This is like driving a very fast Go cart! I have gotten tween 17 - 24 mpg. I wish the tank were a little larger than 18 gallons. I love the 8 inch Nav screen with all the apps. Not much to complain about other than the dealership. Little items like no ring around the ignition key area or better shocks with my 4x4 capability are about the only little irks. I have the XLT package with towing, Navigation, Sport and 18 inch wheels. Wish it had come with spray in bedliner, but it did not. I just installed a hard tri fold tonneau cover. I hate the start stop and keep it permanently off. I had concerns with the 10 speed trans but I can't tell what gear I am in unless I have it toggled to show me on the dash. For real fun I can go into Sport mode or shift manually. No problems with that. Overall it has been a great experience so far. I did not opt for the Lariat as I wanted a Real key and not push button start.

Sempervee, I found your write-up on the 2019 Ranger Eco-Boost as very informative to say the very least and for that, you just helped towards making a decision on what our next vehicle is going to be as a daily driver. In the meantime, thanks for sharing and welcome to TMS

Thanks. Not going away as we are in the market for another Mustang for my significant other next year. She has had 3 previously and loves driving a stick. We've been kind of swayed towards the ecoboost with leather premium package and automatic as she will be commuting in hers (Seattle) and the 2020 edition looks to be performance packaged. :^)
