bowtie convert
newbie here and newbie to mustangs, always had a hot rod chevy.
well 2 weeks ago i bought a 2012 mustang gt premium, candy red, automatic. (pic below)
i tell ya i love this car. the way it makes power, the ergonomics of the driver, the light handling, and the overall build quality, and its not a bad looking car.
i have always been a bowtie guy, ive had 5 camaros, 3 el caminos, a chevelle and a nova. my favorite being my last one a 68 (pic below) thats my nova also. but i got into the sportbike craze and sold it in 2002 to fund a new cbr 954 rr. probably worst mistake of my life.
after not having a fast car for years now, got the son graduated from college and all, i decided its time to get me another hot rod to play with.
i went and test drove all kinds of cars, new mustang gt, new camaro ss, new challenger srt8, new charger srt8, pontiac g8 gt, subaru wrx sti, mitsubitsi lancer evo.
them compact cars while alot of fun to drive dont fit a guy my size, 6'1' and 265# plus i wanted an automatic, i wanted a daliy driver and dont want to bother with clutch in traffic.
my buddy has a 2010 camaro ss and he let my drive it for a saturday, it was ok, setting position had me feeling like i was laying down and i cant see out the back window, i dont like that.
the dodges just felt heavy and sluggish, they lack that sports car feel, more like a big block chevelle, kinda family car with alot of power.
the camaro and dodges feel like big block cars, alot of grunt and torque but not much high rpm screaming and thats what i like, never been a big block fan.
the pontiac on the other hand was not bad, nice car, had a good feel and power was decent but with them being outta production the aftermarket is weak.
then i drove this mustang, i was impressed. it feels light, responsive, nimble, and i love the new 5.0. it makes power like my old small block camaro, quick reving, it talks to ya, and it really feels exilerating to drive.
the inside seating really reminds me of my old camaro too, the seats sit upright, there is good visability, the doors dont seem like there 3 feet thick, the windshield is short and upright, the dash is not seven feet long, and the gauge cluster reminds me of my camaro also. two round gauges with the three bar steering wheel.
im really likeing it. i guess i need to change my screen name to jimboner5.0 now, lol.

Welcome Jim from another bowtie convert.
I was always a Chevy guy. I've had mostly all Chevy's and have had 2 Camaros. One of which I just traded in to purchase my 2013 Roush Stage 3. She isn't home yet, but I hope shortly! lol
