Greetings. I've been buzzing around the main site and forums for a while now and have decided to join. I plan for the Ford Mustang to be my first car, partly in thanks to this site in introducing me to the different models and what I can expect from one. 16 years old, live in North Carolina.
Any suggestions for a first-timer with the Mustang? I was looking at an 01 and test drove it (much more fun than what I'm used to driving), and pretty much anything else made after 1990. My price range goes up to about 10,000. I look forward to being one of "those guys" who has like 3 Mustangs. Thanks, and I look forward to posting with you.

save yourself some money by getting a used V6 5-speed... a V8 with a 16 year old will make your insurance adjuster a happy guy.
Learn to drive stick, enjoy the car, and when you can handle it (after you learn your lesson by getting a speeding ticket or two) get a GT

Yeah I've never driven a stick shift before. But all my friends claim I should. My dad's insurance already went up a lot due to the fact that I am a 16 year old male. Oh well, that's life in the big city. Fast replies around here. I like it.
The only problem I've found with a 90-93ish model is that unless they look really nice, they're mostly suped up race cars with huge unnecessary spoilers and racing seats, like the kid's on his way to Daytona. Needless to say, it's hard to find nice ones around here.

Welcome! I will agree with the others in that getting a nice v6 model to start (I had a 4-cyl for several years 
) and save whatever you can, and get a GT once your insurance starts to go down a little, and you get some driving experience under your belt.
