Cool Why are some people so Fing Stupid

Went to an open cruze in friday . A guy in a new Challanger parks next to me and as soon as he gets out of his car he goes to the trunk and pops a beer. This goes on for close to 2 hours, I didnt even try and count the cans. The guy goes to leave and pulls a huge hole shot down the middle of the show cars. This type of behavior is really detrimental to the car hobby. I dont understand why other then stupid is as stupid does.

Just about every car show I see around here says No Alcoholic Beverages. Of course a lot of that has to do with open container laws we have. Its illegal to drink alcohol in public in most of the towns around here and since the car shows are usually held in town with some streets closed off or in a school parking lot, etc. you can't drink anyway.

Some 20 years ago I would see this same scene at car audio shows. I'm sad to hear that things haven't changed much. I suppose it was foolish of me to think that people change.

All we can do is raise our children to be better. My son is 6 and already a better person than I am. Hopefully people will get better at some point.

Same Shlt at concerts. You pay all this money to see a band and concentrate on the visual experience and live sound. Meanwhile, you always manage to be next to the idiot who is three sheets drunk at song number two..

Throwing up, obnoxious, and screaming the lyrics in your ear as they shltily "sing" along.

I haven't seen anything like that. I haven't seen a drop of alcohol near any car shows I've been at in the past few years.

Only one I've seen any at was at one of the Hot Rod Power Tour stops a couple years ago, and they had vendors selling beer.

The answer is: Because.

There really isn't any other answer. Unless it's 'the punishment, if any, probably isn't severe enough to get people to not do it.', but I'm sure that's a silly answer too.

There is a regular car show in my area that is held in the parking lot of a bar, so yeah, I see people drinking all the time there. Most of the display people are on the older side, so you don't really see them drinking too much. But, eh, it happens.

There are several bad parts to this whole scene. First, you dont need to drink and drive, especially a 400 hp car. Second there are always the "classic people" who need to complain about the modern cars. We had an incident last year where a person was killed when the driver lost control of his car leaving the event.

No joking here but I too have been to a car show where someone was run over.

Long story short, all the mustangs were grouping for a downtown slow cruise. We were all parked on the inclined field grass and needed two wooden wheel ramps to get on and off the grass. (Point of this later)

As we were slowly coming off the ramp one by one, this over zealous 04 Cobra owner caught everyones attention as a little too "rowdy" from get go. (Buzzed and mouthing off) as we were leaving, I was more concerned with making sure my Saleen didn't bottom out so I let everyone go in front of me.

The greedy cobra owner was third in line, peeled the fvck out, lost control, hit two mustangs and ran over a young man! I watched the whole thing coming off the wooden ramp. I couldn't help but remember the saying about people who show off..

One of the saddest things I've ever witnessed. That memory has stayed with me for years. Still to this day, I get choked up thinking about it. The kid that got hit was like 15 or so years old.

Honestly the only way that this sort of behavior is going to stop is if we as individuals step up and say something about it. We can't expect the "scene" to change if none of the people involved do anything.

I don't mean this to sound rude or anything so please don't take it personal OP, but next time maybe you should say something to the guy, like "hey man, there's kids around here and we'd appreciate it if you didn't drink" or something. Personally I would've felt awful if I didn't say anything and then he did hit somebody's car or God forbid, hit somebody on the way out.

The last time I was at Bradenton for an NMRA event was several years ago and I could not see the logic in having Hotties on a golf cart selling beer in the crowd. IMO this is an accident waiting to happen.

I don't know if it adds HP, but it sure adds lead to feet.
