Bahamas! They're relatively close, not as expensive as Hawaii and it's really nice this time of year. No storms.

Compromise. Go to Puerto Rico.

Caribbean Island, hispanic culture, but it is a US territory so you don't need a passport and don't have to worry about possibly ending up in some foreign jail.
