Ohhhh .... Ya we were going to this one because his dad loved it but we know nothing about a sailboat and Justin never has time

Yeah, I don't care much for boats (except on a lake). I'd much rather play with my dingy.

I love being out in our boat. Just wish we had more time get up to the lake.

Boats are great IF you live and have a slip on the water. Other than that they're just a major pain.

Only boat I didn't mind being on was a carrier, and that's because it was so amazing to see how they got everything on that floating football field. The cat launches were awesome too.

I was thinking tuna padre...
I'm not a member but I am a director of one and it also sucks being on the other side.

The problem with HOA's is that they either become too lax or become too tyrannical.

I've dealt with many building houses across this area and they all suck. And people *****ing about everyone else's **** sucks too. I hate it.

It seems stupid to allow sailboats in the slip but not allow the owner to protect it.
As it is, it is going to be damaged before they sell it.
Why couldn't the HOA wait until the boat was sold before telling them to remove the boards? It is due to a death in the family for goodness sake.
Then they can say "no sailboat's" (because our docks are sub-par).

I am a member and the president of our condo HOA. I will never again do either. Only reason I am president is because it is a brand new complex and all of the other owners are my kids age and it is their first house. I volunteered to be pres as I knew I could help them with new home teething problems.

Gary - are you Director of a complex you and your dad built?

Because they suck. It's a small group of people put into power because nobody else wanted to do it because they have lives.

And that's what happens with HOA's its not the best person for the job it's the ones who actually seek to do it and have the control over others.

Common sense and HOA's are usually an oxymoron.

Yes I am. And the only reason we have it is to protect our investment in the undeveloped lots and houses being built.

When we finish the neighborhood we will hand it over to the residents or the mob.

Sorry Patrick. If I had known you were the **** president of one I'd have kept my mouth shut. But you know exactly what I'm talking about.

No offense taken. I know what you mean. That is why I volunteered to be president so no power hungry idiot could do it. My term expires next fall and I will sell the place summer 2015

HOA's blow hard! I heard the mother of one of my friends on the phone with other people from their HOA's talking about how unsightly the landscapers trucks were and how outraged they were that there was a **** limb fallen in the road. Not a big one mind you, one small enough that you'd probably not notice.

Never will I participate in that shiz

HOA's, Neighborhood Associations, Historical Preservation Societies-- they all start out with lofty ideals and wind up nattering about the least consequential details, thanks to the latent ***** who are drawn to be involved in such petty functions. Since Michael Bloomberg's term as mayor of NYC is winding down, he may decide to fill a lot of his spare time volunteering for some of these career-building operations... he's got the resume for it.
