USPS

Am I the only one who thinks USPS is slow and out dated? I ordered things online and got half the shipment through UPS ground shipping and the other items through USPS. The one from UPS got to my house in mere days and well the USPS item took over a week.

I ship stuff USPS all the time and have no problems. First class packages arrive in the 3-5 day window as stated. UPS can be fast here if you stick to the east coast, but if something comes UPS from the west coast, i've waited 8 days for it to get here.

I think you're nuts.

USPS Priority has completely brought them up to date several years back and Priority works great for many items. Inexpensive, tracking, even deliver on Saturday rather than having to wait till Monday evening with FedEx gr or UPS gr.
And the way UPS & FedEx have jacked up prices, you can hardly afford things on ebay anymore.

Just received an ebay order from Chicago to OR. Bought it late Thurs, went out Friday, received it Monday.
Whereas I bought items same afternoon from LA that went Fed Ex gr and I won't receive it till tomorrow. UPS gr is just the same.

I can also ship my books to customers for under $6 (with tracking) and they get anywhere in the US in 2-3 days. They have only increased rates from low $4's over several years so I have been able to hold my price.
I even use USPS Priority for Intl sales. That's getting pricey but are still SUBSTANTIALLY cheaper than UPS or FedEx. I've sold my book in 13 Countries since 1996, used USPS exclusively, and have never had a book order "lost in the mail". Customers love how fast they receive them.

So... you're nuts. Quit bichin about Ben Franklins Post Office! It is completely 21st century.

Yeah in the time it took USPS to just trade my shipment ups had my other stuff at my house already. Ill stick to UPS much faster and I like their package tracker a lot better as well.

So why did you ask then?

You also didn't say anything about size of package or price difference. And why did you split the order?

I understand larger items work best with either FedEx or UPS gr, but Like I said, for many items, USPS Priority rocks it. 2-3 days, 6 days a week, inexpensive, if it fits it ships - anywhere in the Country. I'm in a rural area so UPS and FedEx typically add a day compared to Priority Mail. And you don't need your stinking measuring tape just to get a price quote.

Asked if anyone else felt the same way, apparently some do. Either way I'm a impatient person. I just found it annoying that they couldn't ship a little letter faster than a package.

FedEx is horribly slow when coming out of Arizona. I order stock for my website and it takes over a week to get here. Everything could fit in a flat rate box and be here in 2 days, but the company goes with FedEx instead.

I work for USPS and half the crap we deliver is from ups. We are very competitive and can beat them with several services. Yes we don't pay taxes but we do deliver to every box every day. Even in backwoods and nowheresville. No other government org is required to make money or even break even.

For me USPS has always taken at least a week to ship anything, big or small. Meanwhile ups is 2 days to me from about anywhere.

Then you need to use Priority. No way you get something from west coast to NC in 2 days via ground. But Priority would be there in 3 days. For cheap. Just sayin...

Believe it or not. It might just be your mailer waiting to ship it until they have a big order. They also might be using the cheapest shipping available. (Parcel Post). Our actual shipping time is usually 2 to 3 days. Blame your mailer for using cheapest (slow) rate. Not us for processing it the way they wanted it.
