Screws N and S

I recently bought a house that is 5 years old
we have never had a house this new so everything that
needs fixed changed is more then likely for the first time
I have noticed that ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL outlet
covers have the screws going north and south.
I would like to ask that you check your electrical outlet
covers and let me know if yours are up n down or side to side.

I have recently replaced some of the switches with Auto on off
type and had to remove and replace the cover and i was afraid
to terminate the screw turns any way but up and down for fear
i might upset the balance of something. Pole reversal of the
universe or something?

Mine all go East and West.

I'm very OCD and made sure that they did. But be careful, one 1/4 turn to far and you risk cracking the cover.

Mine all go north/south.
I figured that dust and/or moisture wouldn't collect in the slot if it was vertical.

And yah, I'm **** about it too...

Whatever's tight, that's where it is.

Lookin' at one with 4, and they're all kinds of directions.

The purpose is a quality finished product in uniform no different than the proper way to wire a circuit breaker panel, a network system, or communictions frame. It'll work either way but the visual counts.

It's not only a matter of dressing it up but to follow the specs standards.

I have done hundreds of these and this has always been my opinion too.
It's kinda funny because I can be so picky about most things.
This has never bothered me. I just make sure the covers are tight.
