It's a good idea to have a dash cam and run it when you're in the car. All you'd have to do is call the cops, show them the video and press charges. Problem solved.

I was driving home the other night with a buddy and we had to merge into a two lane road from a ramp. There was a motorcycle in the next lane and I sped up to get in front of him. He got super pissed to say the least. Then it came to a one lane road and he passed us on the shoulder (while yelling at us the whole time,) and then at 55 mph, stops in the middle of the road holding up traffic. Then proceeds to get off his bike and come at us. I floored it and went around him, then he followed us for ten more minutes.

We actually had called the cops. We got disconnected from a loss of signal, and then they called us back. That was after he stopes following us though.

Extreme example. But next time they should try to smash a Corolla, not a 5000lb Range Rover.

You need to spend some time driving in Italy. It's a very different experience. First of all let me say that Italian drivers (who some people believe are crazy) are actually very predictable.

When you are on the autostrada (freeway/tollway) you don't camp in the left lane. The speed limit may be 120 Kilometers per hour, but there will be folks out there doing between 150 and 200. If they come up on somebody in the left lane going slower they flash their lights and ride about 6 feet off the guy's bumper. It is expected that you will get out of the way of faster drivers. When somebody passes you they will pass very close and move back to the right so close that you feel they are cutting you off. They are simply getting out of the left lane so they don't hold up the REALLY fast folks. Once you understand this you realize that they are not being rude, they are trying to stay safe. Then you accept that that is the way it is and don't sweat it. The ONLY time you will be passed on the right is when you have failed to move out of the fast lane and there is plenty of room in the slow lane. I've covered about 3,700 kilometers on this trip and I've seen it twice.

In town the traffic is intense and there are frequently LOTS of motor scooters darting in and out. When you need to make a left turn against oncoming traffic you sort of push your nose in and bluff a little and someone will let you through.

It sound nuts but it works. We have never seen an accident here. I quickly learned to drive like an Italian and it works. The only time I get fussed is when we are trying to navigate through a town with very narrow streets and our GPS looses its mind - usually at a critical moment. And the streets are VERY narrow in many places. I would not want to drive my Mustang here, except on the autostrada.

My experience in Italy was quite different. I wasn't even driving and I saw more than one fender-bender in less than five days. The bus we were on was hit twice by motorists and once by a lunatic on a scooter that quite frankly was lucky he lived. There are no such things as lanes. People drove wherever they wanted to, whenever they wanted to. We sat through an entire green light cycle because the crossing traffic simply didn't stop moving. It wasn't until a police "car" (looked a hell of a lot more like the Johnny Cab from Total Recall--the first one) ran its sirens and lights and slid to a stop in the middle of the intersection that people stopped going. He got out, started blowing on his whistle, and people STILL didn't stop until he took his stick out and literally pounded on the door of cars that passed him. Not kidding. The interstates were no different for us than they are here, and we were driven between Rome, Venice, Florence and a couple of little out-of-the-way places.

You couldn't pay me to drive there.

was driving past wal mart yesterday and the back entrance turn by the tire lube express pulls out onto the road I was on. limit is 45 and it was 7ish at night headed west so the sun was straight in my eyes and everyone else going my way and there's a car sitting there and just pulls out in front of me and apparently realizes the sun was shining in that direction and slams on their brakes and drives 10mph. obviously I need to slam on my brakes, then I honk and once im almost stopped behind them I throw down into 2nd and switch lanes and stare them down as I fly past them. all of this in my 7k mile mach 1 that ive only had about a month...so tired of people that just pull out in front of people. people do that to me all the time on 2 lane roads when im the only car on the road they cant wait 10 seconds for me to drive by they make me slow down then I have to wait to pass because I was driving faster than they are...

Interesting you say that, one of the guys at the shop that is going to do my header install just had to go to court with his son for a reckless driving charge with a lawyer in tow. His son pissed off some lady (thinks he might have inadvertently cut her off) and she was able to file the reckless charge in the same manner as a citizen's arrest. She tagged one other kid as well and got the charge to stick. No cops involved at all.

It sounds like most of these stories would've never happened had someone shown just an ounce of common courtesy. ( which isn't so "common" these days)

I invite you guys to go for a drive in Miami during the morning commute or around 5 when everyone is trying to get home. If that made you angry you would be in rage every single day. Glad nothing worse happened.
