I was sitting here infront of my puter reading The times online..Clarksons back articles to be exact, and inbetween paragraphs watching a japanese horror flic on Windows media. When i felt the urge to make a cappucino (instant) so as I'm stirring away to whip up some froth in my tasty beverage, a thought slammed me in the back of the head.

It's sunday night about 9:15 and I'm in I hate my day job mode....
Not looking forward to another slog from 9-5 dealng with a staff that is one step away from a condom machine in a convent on the usfulness scale and having to deal with the massive ammounts of human waste that walks through the door thinking they are the most important thing in the universe.

That thought was this....
My weekdays have evolved into a mad dash or more appropriately a race/contest with myself to see how fast i can make it to the weekend. I just want the weekdays to be over as fast a possible so the weekend is here.
I've actually gotten to the point where I don't look at clocks anymore at work. My watch is always set to calendar mode so i can track larger amounts of time. I feel i make no progress till the numbers on my calendar enabled watch change.and then only if they have changed more than three times in a row.

Man i need to find another job....which leads me to the second though that i just had... I will never be happy working for somone else. I will only be happy working for me. 75% of my life is spent making someone else moneywhile i get beans for my troubles.

And i'm not maoning here just observing..I know how to fix the problem and am working on it..it's just taking more time than i had hoped.

As far as I'm concerned a "job" is something you have to do and hate. If you call it a job then it's bad. If you like your work or better yet love it, then it's a hobby you get payed to do.

if its any consolation i WISH you had a huge staff of workers working for you so you could build those sex-on-wheels equivalents you call "cars"

I WAS a graphic designer..now i just manage a building of idiots that think they are graphic designers. In other words i'm a babysitter. Uppermanagement in a go nowhere job. Ahh gotta love it!

Oh and i still make the same ammmount i did as a graphic designer.
basically nothing.

Doug, I can understand your pain. You 've pointed out the one thing I liked best about a military career.
Every 2 to 3 years I got to do something new, in a new place, with a completely different set of people,
but still keeping all of your benefits.
So no assignment could ever be just a "job" for very long.

Sounds like you are ready for starting out on your own.
Hope it happens soon for you, and I frimly believe that your "skills" will make it successful for you, too.

All I 'll say is that sometimes (oh no . . I'm trying to be philosophical?!) one has to go through an awful lot of S**t to come out smelling like rose.

You have a tremendous talent that will pay off in the long run. Jusy keep exercising your gift and someone . .the right one, will take notice.

I hear you. I've done many things in my life and now I work 1 1/2 jobs because my goal is to be in Poland next year as a teacher. We do what we have to do until the right thing comes along. Doug, I wish the best in the future. As my Polish friend says, never give up your flicker of hope.

And James, you've got a new family family member so making a change will not be easy. Good luck to you also mate.
