We were walking from a restaurant to a store through a parking lot and passed a mustang.
I said "Tell me what you know about the car."
He looked at the side which was labeled and said "It's a 94-98 GT with a 4.6"
We walked around back he said " 96-98 " ........ "SVT"
I said "They don't make an SVT GT" , but sure enough, they had the sticker.
He said,"POSER"

That's my boy........Priceless!

If a guy or gal throws the SVT or Cobra decals or emblems on a Capri, AND they do not belong, they are POSERS, nothing wrong with the car (that I know of), but I'll be honest, without the research ( you have now forced me to do at 5 AM ) I know NOTHING about the Capri. By the time you read this, I will not be so ignorant.......google here I come.....
The idea behind the thread being be what you are!

Wasn't a capri made in those years there were no mustangs in the early 80s?

My Mother to this day still can't believe me and my Dad can glance at a mustang and ID it on sight. She like my husband never got the bug.

I did not see Capris listed under the timeline and everything i found was either U.K. or Australian with mention of some sold in the states under the Mercury brand. the only vehicle reference I found was to the Mazda 323. So in my opinion, unless other info shows up to the contrary, the Capri is not a Mustang. And even if they were the same ( ie mercury montego/ford 500 ) they would still be posers in my opinion if they pretended to be Mustangs. Be what you are.

There were mustang in the early 80's and there were capris too
Basically mercury's mustang...same baqsic shape but new body panels
the capri had what looked kinda like a widebody kit on it.

The Capri was like the Cougars of the '60s compared to the Mustangs of the '60s. Camaro and Trans Am, Cyclone and Torino. Pretty much the same car but made by Ford/Chevy's other brand.
