Martha Stewart Sentenced!
She gets 5 months in the slammer, 5 months house arrest, and a $30,000 fine!! She can't go out of the house but for medical appointments, religious services, or shopping for necessities!
the feds just made it a bid deal with martha, because of the big fumble with enron. they tried to "make up for it", so they can be seen as legit.
martha only messed around with some thousand bucks, while the enron scandal fooled around with people's lifes, and a whole lotta millions.
if martha got 5 months, i cant wait to see what is going to happen to Lay.

You obviously missed the juror exit interview when he blatently acknowledged that he was out to get the rich and make them pay. :bang: Her broker told her she was about to take big losses cause another client of his was on the inside and sold all his stock (real crime). She sold hers. When authorities asked her about it, she lied to protect the broker. That's worth the sentence she got?
The real crime is that the broker (who did the real immoral thing) got a lighter sentence.
She was a broker at one time, she knew what she was doing, and that it was wrong. She got caught. She paid big time with the millions lost in the stock price, and loss of sales from people not buying her stuff at Kmart. She will sit in jail for 5 months. That is a slap on the wrist. She was cocky about it from the beginning. If she fessed up and said, OK, I did it, I'm sorry, things would have went a lot smoother for her, and she would've had house arrest for 5 months. Being concilliatory when you are caught, with your had in the cookie jar, would've helped her a lot more than being defiant and begging for leniency in the end.
Just my $.02
Just my $.02
i dont really care about this case at all.
how about an investigation into why nortel networks went from US $82 to i dunno i think less than $1 in the course of a yr or so. I'm sure the 60,000 people that got laid off would like an explanation.
a lot of company big wigs cashed out on that deal too.... millions $$$

hey hdwrench,
have you seen "roger and me." its a documentary by Michael Moore. It's about his hometown in Flint, Michigan, and how GM outsourced all of their jobs to Mexico for cheap labor. The whole city went down the drain, it looks awful. and the only people in that city that seem to like the conditions? those big wigs with their golf course.
very good movie.
i recommend his other movies also.

Uh oh now you've done it. You've mentioned the two words I hate more than anything else in the english language. "Michael Moore". I watched Roger and Me in a Soc class at college. It was very sad, but as with all of his films, he only ever shows one side of the coin. "UnFairenheit 9/11"? a joke. He claims to be independent, but is a registered liber...... Democrat. His Bush bashing piece of crap has already been debunked. Wow, I feel better. Sorry for stealing the topic btw, but I hate that guy.
