• Locke is healed and helped out of the pit by none other than Walt, who disappears immediately after doing so.
• Naomi is not who she seems. Ben says she is not who she claims to be, and Charlie views a transmission from Penny Widmore claiming she has no idea who Naomi is.
• Charlie dies in the yellow room as predicted, when Mikhail throws a grenade into the room, killing the both of them, but allowing Charlie to unjam the island's communications.
• Naomi has a knife thrown into her back by Locke at the Radio Tower.
• RATTLESNAKE IN THE MAILBOX - HUGE TWIST - GAME CHANGER - The episode's flashbacks focus on Jack, who appears to be going through an extremely difficult time in his life, stealing medication, attempting suicide, etc. Throughout the episode, he is desperately attempting to contact someone. Finally, it is revealed that this person is Kate. When the two meet face-to-face OFF THE ISLAND, Jack yells at her that they need to return to the island.

great season finale! PERFECT! locke get's naomi in the back! the russian (can't spell his name) kills charlie, who nobly (sp) gives his life to save desmond and make sure he got the message from penny (which has it's own question, how and why would she be calling someone there? that's satelite communication right there, you don't broadcast, ya gotta know the number....something isn't right there.

naomi is a complete idiot....it's a fuggin sat phone, it works with line of sight, ever try to use GPS indoors, it doesn't work! go outside nimrod!

the flashbacks of jack are obviously once they get off the island...so to answer the question of will they get off the island, it's yes.....how we don't know. who died? I suspect it was juliet that died, and kate was speaking about sawyer when she said "he'll be wondering where I am"

hurley is the SHIAT he ran that dude over with a VW bus! saweeet! didn't expect that one. why did ben send himself on the mission knowing that jack hated him and would make sure he does not go back alone, very gutsy and stupid, but ben has obviously proved himself to be highly intelligent and manipulative....I wouldn't be surprised that he has a plan in mind......

Either A ) they are flashforwards (which kinda ruins 'who gets off the island)
or B ) What ifs (like... if they use the sat phone and get off the island that way, THIS is what will happen)

Mind you, the future can always change, as the present (island) events will have an impact on the future.

 

I thought it was an awesome episode, though I think I liked last season's finale better. My favorite part had to be when Hurley smashed through the camp with the bus!! I'm mad that Charlie died, although I knew it would happen. Oh well. Now I just have to wait forever to see more!

 

Has anyone stopped to consider that perhaps they're not on an island at all?

Perhaps they're not even in a waking state at all. Perhaps they're all part of an elaborate, collective programming experiment, the end purpose of which is yet unknown - and may be unveiled later. The "flash forward" in the finale actually reinforces that idea. Think an extension of MK-ULTRA.

How could it be a flash forward if Jack's dad had died before the crash?
Yesterday, Jack asked the doctor to call his dad and see if he was drunker, and also signed his dad's name for his presciption.

 

I think the remark about the calling his dad was just a smart-*** reply to him being accused of drunkeness (i.e. his dad worked there drunk for years and nobody said anything). The prescription was just a drug addicts desperate attempt to get his next fix.

 

Actually, I heard that theory first from my 13 year old daughter about a month ago....

She's pretty precocious but no she hasn't read it. However, she did come up with that particular theory on her own awhile back.

 

You mean that they're all sequestered away somewhere, placed in a deep unconscious state, sharing a collective hallucination as part of a programming technique for some yet-to-be discovered purpose...?

 

Not in so many words, but yes, she thought of that. My daughter is a HUGE Lost fan and she usually has a "theory du jour". I can't even keep up with all the theories she's brought up.

 

Well, that's the way I took it. Of course, there could be other possibilities....
