Looking for a 60inch tv led
Any recommendations? I have been liking the http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Sharp+-+...&skuId=4841624
but not totally sold on it yet. Looks like it has all the right stuff. Being internet ready that makes me believe I can surf just like on my laptop... is that correct or is it that I would have to buy aps?

Edit: I didn't see where it says Internet ready, but as far as I know, no TV will let you surf the Internet as good as a smartphone or computer (some things not being supported, etc..) . As for the Apps, on my Samsung, most of them are free, but i don't like the built in stuff, makes the TV feel slow.

Thanks for the replies. I checked out a Lg 60ls5700 today at hhgregg. Its loaded for 1465.00 plus tax of course. They said they will price match so I came home and found it for 1425 delivered. So I will see if they will match that. The sales guy said Samsung is number one then LG then bla bla as far as goodness goes. He wasn't so kean on the sharp. I have heard that samsung is number one from other sources too.

Doesn't matter. Does it look good? Does it do what you want? Can you afford it? Buy it.
You may or may not be throwing it away, literally, when the warranty expires, as it will be cheaper to buy another one at that time than fix the one you bought 2 years or whatever it was ago.
They are making them as a disposable item... Like brake pads on a car. Or tires.
That said, Samsung rocks. That is all.

I was an audio/ video manager for 12 years and was a trainer at the district level. I think the best advice I can give is look at the picture. Check the settings when you compare to make sure they are all level. Many people screw with the settings and it makes an appraisal difficult. Ask the sales staff what the resolution of the source is. This matters. Compare that to your source. Some tvs look amazing in 1080i but garbage at anything lower.
I always tell people to not consider brightness as sharpness or better picture quality. People do not shine. Scarlet Johansen being the one exception. Look for natural color. Try to look for images to reference of people's faces. Most people know what skin tone in general should look like. This gives a reasonable base line. Also look at the crispness of the outline of images and the smoothness of moving objects.
If possible, bring source material that you have seen on a system that looks good to you. Having a reference point can help you decide.
Wow, this is a lot. If anyone has a tv or audio question I am more than happy to answer. I warn you that most of the places I worked closed. I may be bad luck. I managed for Circuit City, the Good Guys, and Compusa. Compusa did sell audio and video when I worked there. Then, they closed. Good luck shopping!

We have a Sharp 60 inch, that we bought this past Jan during the Super bowl sales. Got it at our local Frys, and paid 1400 or 1500 (50% off at that time). It is one of the Quattrons, 3d, 240hz, model no. is either the 845u, or 847u.
I would recommend it if you're on the fence. The Hi-def picture is very good from Uverse, and it really shines on Blue Ray. Standard def is good, and dvd material is very good too. I have not tried the 3d, as it did not come with any glasses and I have not purchased. I'm not sure if my Blueray player will do 3d material or not.
It has an ether net port, and built-in wi-fi if you want to hook it to the internet for Netflix, and those types of applications. We run netflix through our Xbox so we dont take advantage of that from the TV.
My only regret is that it isnt the 70, 80, or even 90 inch , but they were more than I wanted to spend at that time. Hope that helps your decision.
Mr. V sorry to hear about your run of luck working in the consumer electronic industry. I was a frequent shopper of Compusa - loved them, and fairly frequent with Circuit city, no Good guys around me. I hated to see them go under, and now Bestbuy is having problems. Hoping they make it. I want to see a TV, and listen to an AV Receiver, and Speakers and play around with them before I purchase.

My bad luck actually turned good. It pushed me back to school. I am now an English teacher. A lot less stress. Thank you for the thought.
Best buy is sadly on the ropes. There may come a day when you can't demo something before you buy it. It's sad how there are hardly any choices anymore as far as where to buy things.
You made a great choice in televisions. I hope you enjoy it.
