Three packages I've sent in the last four weeks (two containing Christmas china) were all marked fragile and inspected by USPS employees for secure packaging, but still arrived at their destination with severe damage.
After all these years,

Ha! Me too, and I insured it, and it arrived damaged and I got a strike on Ebay for it even after sending the insurance claim and refunding half the auction.......
Funny they never lose or tear up the blasted bills that arrive....

Fed Ex is no better. Last year we shipped 3 boxes to California from South Carolina, each also checked for shipping. 2 Boxes arrived very damaged, one never got there at all. Only thing good I can say about Fed Ex is, we had receipts for the gifts that were damaged and we filled out a boat load of paper work and they sent us a check. Never said "sorry" but they did pay us.

It makes a case for spending the extra 5 bucks and shipping it UPS or FEDEX.
Is the Postal Service a government office?

Several other times, stuff I sent was either never received or badly damaged.
I have a friend that works at UPS and he told me that there are some guys, when they see 'fragile' marked on it, they purposely toss it around to see if they can break what's inside. After I heard that, I haven't used UPS once. Fed Ex has always come through for me.
Well.......anyone have any experience with DHL.
rant on: Actually, I have a screw up with Fedex right now but its the shippers fault. My southern voice said SC and they sent my pkg to Nevada. Must be a language barrier. I could hardly understand the person taking the order. Seems they sub this stuff out to foreign countries. :rant off

Fedex is the devil.......
When we lived down in Deliverance-ville the fedex guy used to have his friends sign for our stuff in the ghetto, when it never arrived we would call, Fedex would say- WELL IT WAS SIGNED FOR...I use UPS. Love em.

I won't use UPS. Their system is a nightmare. I used to buy dvds from different companies and got stuck shipping with them all the time. The worse thing is watching their tracking service every day. They send things to their HUBs but they can go just about anywhere instead of being sent straight to you.
Once they shipped one of my packages from Canada to California, to PA where I am located, then back to Canada for no reason whatsoever. When I called them they assured me I'd have it in a week. It took two! To top it off, they delivered the package opened!!!
Nothing like waiting for something to pass customs a few dozen times. The USPS is usually slower but I've never really had a problem with it.

Rob,
Hate to tell you this but you shouldn't buy anything from Sears either ....
My buddy works at the huge warehouse here and they wrestle/kick/throw all the expensive merchandise every day. Nothings safe.
