Handicapped parking and YOU
Really? You're going to call me out on that?
OK. Maybe THEY - like YOU - should MYOFB. You are neither that person's doctor or the judge that would levy/enforce a fine if they parked there improperly.
I've been around people like you with your innuendo's about people's health or disability. Like an old woman sticking your nose in everybody's business but your own.
Maybe his injuries are internal and not so obvious so others make the same wise crack. Maybe the guy forgot the placard because his wife drove the car last. Maybe the guy has the runs and has to get to a bathroom quick. Maybe the guy just finished his chemo infusion, feels like puking but can't, and just wants to get in and out of the store. Maybe....
Or maybe the guy is one of the small minority of people that do cheat.
Regardless, maybe you shouldn't judge others until you walk a mile in their shoes.

Fine. Your turn to get blasted out.
I AM calling you out on that, because frankly, it's just not needed here. It wasn't, and never would have been, likely, until you put it in here. Although I will admit that it is possible a decent segue might have presented itself.
But you just HAD to put your little bashing in there hamfistedly because you're still pissed off about whatever it is you're pissed off about, and figured you'd just plonk it in there.
Like saying during the recital of how to make a ham sandwich "OH YEAH, THE LETTUCE IS SUBSIDIZED BY OBAMA AND THE IRS, DON'T USE IT." So out of left field.
Then you go and rant about how I need to walk in another person's shoes?! MY FATHER AND MOTHER do that every day. If you think I don't get this subject, you are COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY WRONG.
And as such, I am frankly tired of you. I will be remeding that shortly, and permanently on my end.

Sorry folks. I'm done in this thread. Carry on or not, and if mods lock it, fine by me.
I hate when people are too lazy to obey the rules. When I see a car in the handicapped space and it has no special tags or plates...I find a shopping cart and put it directly behind the car and hope they don't see it when they back up to leave. Jerks!
As much as I support and believe in the handicapped parking system, I will say this. In my job with the Federal government I deal with medical care and you would possibly be astonished by what conditions and problems qualify one for a disability tag or placard here in Texas.
What pisses me off just as much, is the percentage of handicapped versus regular spots that are required. Especially at big places like Target or Costco, where on a busy day, *every single* normal spot is taken for like half a mile, and then there's two dozen unused handicapped spots right in front. If the lawmakers have determined that there needs to be *that* many handicapped spots open at any given moment (and you know you've never seen them all full at one time), that means they've determined there's *that* many handicapped drivers on the road. Like you guys said, you don't know what people's conditions are, but around here MOST people I see park in handicapped spots are pos minivans filled with fatasses who ate too much McDonald's, and then they've got their 5 welfare supported, McDonald's-fed kids with them too.
I do not use nor condone using handicapped spots for convenience sake, but just the other day my girlfriend and I had to stop by the bank. 6/18-20 spots were handicapped spots, and every regular spot was taken - only 1 handicapped spot was open. It's a small narrow parking lot, on a busy street, so circling around isn't possible, and it's not the best, area so I didn't want to leave her waiting for me with a bunch of cash. So, I pulled into the only spot available, and waited in the car for her, so I could back out if an actual handicapped person needed the spot. No one else pulled in, but no one else left the lot either. So she came out and we were on our way. The security guard (armed by the way) gave me a look and then scanned the lot, realized there was no other spots, and then gave me the "approving" head nod.
That scenario is obviously a lot different than what we're discussing though.

[QUOTE=houtex;6626016]Well, not YOU, but the guy who tried to park there... and was not handicapped.

Been a car nut all my life(since Jesus wore short pants),and been hanging around forums since I learned to turn n a computer; and have met some fine people that share my interests, and now, I've got to say"you're singinging from the same book". December 22 2010,I had to push my now departed first wife(cancer) in her wheelchair from the most extreme outer parking row to the store, as all handicapped spaces were full, and front of the store too crowded to unload and leave her. Noticed upon entry that all 3 scooters were plugged up and charging;and upon walking around the store, did not see even one SOB with so much as a cane. Made me want to shout"FAT IS NOT A HANDICAP!!!!!". Thanks, guys; I feel a Helluva lot better now. Back to motoring!!

Actually, according to the federal govt, it is. A friend of mine is in school getting a degree in disability services (or something to that effect) and was appalled to learn, in her text no less, that obesity is, in fact, considered a disability.
Thanks, gubment.

But now, not only do we have the arrogant thief in chief hobama - plus his clown Sebelius - and now the totalitarian IRS monitoring/judging your personal private health records, but we even have Bubba Houtex sitting in judgment. When he is absolutely clueless about other individual's personal private health matters, yet he can read their minds with his truth-o-meter based on where they park.
My dad had to get a handi-cap placard to hang on his rearview mirror and it wasn't an easy thing to get. Now that he has passed away it will expire in 6 months and my Mom never uses it. Her attitude is I can walk so why use it! But I often wonder how many other people would just keep on using it?!?

What I find funny about this topic is how easy it is for people that don't have legitimate medical reasons to get the placard. In FL. my mother had to jump through hoops to get her's and she only needs it because she can barely walk cause both of her knees have had surgery done on them twice. She simply can't walk and uses a cane everywhere but in the house. I almost blew a gasket when her doctor told her he wasn't going to approve a tag and she should just walk and get over it. Meanwhile specialists said that her knees, unless replaced, cannot sustain long durations of walking. After forcing her to get a different doctor who spoke with the specialists, he did some more research to help alleviate the problem while also granting her the placard until they can fix the situation.
So I don't say judge others, but there are times when you KNOW that that person is not handicapped in any capacity except when it comes to being a good person.
