Got pulled over...Got a ticket...
#1
Well, it was early July. My sister's bday was going on at a local "party house" rental area. The pizza store delayed our order, so I rushed home and ordered sandwiches from our local deli. I went and got 100 sandwiches for 80 people, all who were STARVING to death.
So I started heading up toward my sister's party, and got stuck behind a very very bad driver who was swerving all over the place. You know those drivers that look like they are gonna side-swipe your car at any second? It was exactly like that. I switched lanes to the right, and gave the car a little gas.
:bang: :bang: :bang: That's when I saw the black and white stopped at a stop sign to my right. I looked at my speed and I was going 50  .
The cop turned into my street, followed me for about 30 seconds, and turned those NASTY lights on. Wow, I started shaking. This was my first incident with the law . AND about 20 people started staring at me from the nearby shopping centers.
So basically...the cop was a real jerk. He gave me three tickets:
- not having plates (the car was brand new)
- not having proof of insurance on the GT (car was brand new, had JUST registered it)
- going 50mph in a 35mph zone
Not only was THAT bad enough, the cop called BACKUP and another officer came. This is where the fun started. They started staring at my wheels, and then touching the car to see if the stripes were painted on or not. That didn't bug me. Until they said... "Is this really your car?"
:flame2:
They proceeded to ask me to REV the car, stating that my exhaust had seemed "too loud" when the cops pulled me over. WTF?
They left after 30 minutes of all this...and I was given Juvi. I go to court in one week.
So I got into my car and headed up toward my sister's party, with both cops following me along the way.
******BACK TO THE PRESENT******
NOW (almost two months later, I have JUST realized something. The cop stated I was going 50mph in a 35 zone, BUT the speed limit for that area is actually 40mph. A friend of mine told me that this ticket is not totally accurate, meaning I can tell the judge the ticket is "not accurate, your honor..." and proceed to tell him about the limit. I even took some pictures of the area with the Limit signs.
What can I do? Is that something I can bring up? Should I even bring it up?
And what about all these ticket sites? All these online pages that state 100% guarantees that they can win tickets over? Anyone tried these? How do they work?
Basically I want to know what all you guys think..What can I do???

The insurance ticket should be cleared up easily enough. I'm guessing you had insurance on your previous car and it should - if your local laws are like what's here - carry over to your newly purchased car for 30 days or so.
If you were displaying the dealer purchase paper plate or whatever they have in your area, again easily cleared.
I hope you did get those two cleared.
The speeding ticket sound like you got nailed. The posted limit is basically irrelevant since you're over it anyway, it's just a matter of degree at this point.
My first thought is - you got nailed, pay up. It'll remind you to not do that in the future. If you can get it to a fine without points, I think that would be the way to go.
You can fight it in court. The issue about getting around a weaving driver is not worth mentioning (you could have slowed down, etc). You might see if you can get it knocked down to a non-moving violation, or something like tailgating which usually carries fewer points than speeding.
Haven't tried one of those ticket fighting places.

I paid an attorney $100 in NC to get a speeding ticket changed to a improper equipment so it would not affect my insurance. I still had to pay the fine of $125 also though. He sent me a paid receipt showing the change.
Good Luck

Hm...Any other people???
- I just mentioned the bad driver in front of me bacause that is what happened...in no way am I trying to justify what I did...
- I don't have a problem with paying...dang I DID speed and I gotta pay for what I've done..no problem there. Its just when my friend mentioned #1. the websites and #2 I noticed the speed being different, I thought I would get some input from you all...

Actually, I don't know what the laws are in the US but in Canada, if the officer goofs up on the ticket and writes anything inaccurately, such as the posted speed limit, the case is thrown out of court. So, if you were in Ontario I'd say fight it.
Now, regarding the officers asking you to "rev" you car, well, welcome to the real world. That is normal. It all depends on the cops and how thier day is going. In Canada it is illegal to modify the factory exhaust system in order to gain more hp or a difference in sound (only on the louder side), so that would have gotten you another ticket here if they noticed you had aftermarket exhaust, however I don't think you do so they would have lost that one.
No plates on the car, of course that is a no brainer. All cars have plates on them when they leave the dealer. It is illegal not to have them. Were they just talking about the front plate?

Actually they were nice in that respect, they didnt say anything about not having front plates....I dont even have a frame in the front.

You would have a very tough time getting anything thrown out on your own. If this could affect your insurance rate then I would pay for an attorney. I did that on a "bogus" 75 in a 45 construction zone ticket. The signs said 45mph while workers a present and there were no workers at the time, 11:30pm. The judge said there may have been workers present further south than where I got on the tollway. I was P-O'd but bit my tongue. The attorney got it knocked down to 75.00 and supervision from 375 plus court costs. He cost me 110 but saved my insurance rate.

Here in CA when you buy a car (new or used) the dealer issues a temp. form and tapes in on your windshield. The form is from the DMV and shows the VIN, owner's and salespersons name and is used to allow you to drive the car until the registration os processed and plates mailed to you from DMV.
In the case of my 05 Mustang I drove the car home on 12/28/04, registration processed and plates mailed in early January 05.

I Will tell you that 10 over is STILL speeding regardless. So your chances to fight the fact that you were going 10 over instead of 15 may help your case some. Where I am from, and for what I do, I can tell you that it depends on the "goof" an officer does on a ticket if it gets thrown out of court or not. Good luck.
