Get Ready For Oil To Hit 100 Bucks A Barrel

Today, as the Israelis intensify bombing in Lebanon, we can only expect further escalation of the war. With more countries drawn into the conflict – Israel has already warned Hezbollah’s backers in Syria and Iran – the likelihood of $100 a barrel looms large.

So far left they have just about fallen off the planet!!

But seriously, remember when everyone was pi**ed off when it was only OPEC that set the price? It seems to me that things have gotten more out of control since oil has been traded on the futures market!!!

These Canadian dollars might be passing American dollars sometime around next summer.

Then ill be down there buying cars by the boatload, since it takes those chumps a few years to adjust the market prices with the dollar fluxuations.

And about the oil...

Ya, weve got all the oil, but as the #1 supplier to the states were still paying way more than they are for fuel. And Alberta which has most of Canadas oil, i believe still has some of the highest prices in the country, besides the Vancouver and Toronto metro areas. Yeeha.

What really pisses me off is that there has been no real interruption in oil production to spur the recent spikes to record highs. Its just jumping based on speculation of future shortages due to preventable wars that may or may not ever happen.

Alright, im done *****ing.

What does "left" or "right" have to do with an actual war in the middle east that "big oil" will use as an excuse to jack up prices?

Negative reporting, negative stories. Their approach to bring any subject, which deals or is associated with the current administration and the "right", has been to concentrate and highlight the negatives while ignoring or down playing the positives. That is their history as well as their credibility.

So, lemmie see if I've got this straight: If the news is bad, it's automatically "Liberal," and if it's good, it's automatically "Conservative"...? Is that what you're trying to say?

Last time I checked, the situation in the Middle East could hardly be called anything but bad. Now, trying to "spin" the crisis over there as "good news," THAT sounds like the central and well-worn strategy of the extreme right wing agenda. Three steps forward in the midst of ten steps back does not a positive story make.

And for the record, I don't consider myself either liberal OR conservative - I consider myself a moderate. I can't abide extremists of any kind: "left," right" OR "fundamentalist."

I'm hoping to see some money soon on an investment I made in late 2004. While I feel the price of oil at the pump, I'm looking forward to the larger returns from it as well. Back then. I had made some wild calculations based off $60 a barrel. Now with prices already around $75, it's looking like an even better decision to move my old tech investments to oil.

Though it is a real shame to see the events that are occurring to cause these jumps. I'd be happy with seeing thing settle down, even if it means the price per barrel drops to $30 or so.

Well said BC

I gotta say I've found myself already used to these high prices. I don't like it but I've adjusted. The only time I really feel it is when I get a partial tank..like $5.00 worth and you only get 2 gallon...that hurts.

off topic a smidge but true, there is an old joke that is so true it hurts.
You know when a politician is lying???
His lips are moving.
pretty much sums up my thought on politicians...

Absolutely not, but if that is the interpretation you wish then so be it.

I am familiar with that particular newspaper and my reference to its approach was clear, I could have associated it with the National Enquirer but the NY Times was good enough.

I do not sympathize with any news organization which displays bias for a particular side on a constant basis regardless whether is "Liberal" or "Conservative" and should perhaps try their luck at talk radio. Most likely they would have better success.

BTW, if you ever get serious with me again I will publicly challange you to a duel.
burningman will be the judge.

And burningman: Do you remember the Rosemary sundried tomato ham and melted imported swiss cheese, with sauted onions and spanish sausage on deliciously fresh french bread, specially gourmet cooked by Chef 1 BULLITT?

I thought so!

The only sandwich I'm familiar with is the "sandwich of love: one below and one above."

No interpretation required. Seemed pretty clear cut to me.
