I wish I could go, but I have to go to ArcGIS training in W. Palm Beach that week. Not really a bad trade off though.

I went to the one in '01 and the excitement and atmosphere is unbelievable. The only downsides were that you couldn't see what was going on on the track and that it took two hours to get out of the parking lot when it was over.

I've been to all 4 of the previous races, and you are correct about the atmosphere . . . and vision. I am sitting in the infield this year. I've sat in just about every general vantage point, and always had a good time watching practice in the AM from the infield.

The key, IMO, in getting out of the area is to park in someone yard. The longest it has taken me is about 25 minutes to get to the highway and make my way back to Cincinnati, or Chicago. Of course maybe I've been lucky! (And I have finished watching every race.)

Weather should be interesting this year. I've seen different conditions each year I went.

F1-did you watch the Monaco race this past weekend? Actually a GOOD F1 race, I thought.

It was a great race. It ended Schumacher's win streak and Barrichello's Ferrari was struggling to keep up. There were so many incidents that caused conflicts after the race:
Coulthard vs Sato
Fisichella vs Sato
Alonso vs Ralf
and best of all
Michael vs Montoya (it's not wise to brake test in a dark tunnel)

Also, did you hear, Jaguar lost the diamond that was in the nose of Klien's car when he hit the barrier. That was crazy.

It'll be interesting to see what effects the proposed changes in F1 have on the field.

I've only been following F1 since I was a kid in the 60's! B)

Skinny tires, 1.5 liter engines, Jackie Stewart, Graham Hill, etc.

I can't even imagine the skill it takes to pilot one of those machines.

BTW, I drove through that tunnel about 7 years ago--at 60 kph in a rented Renault Twingo!
