First Top Gear USA trailer

For the 3rd attempt... this one looks promising however. Adam Ferrara cracks me up on Rescue Me so hopefully he carries over well.

That looks like fun but I'd bet there could be some awesome ideas to come from here !
like when in the prairies after the snow plows finished left massive pile & a slick parking lot we would drift into the piles to try to burry the cars lol

I love top gear and jeremy clarkson! But I do not see how the worlds best car show is not from america the worlds biggest car country on the planet for the last hundred something years.

The trailer looks pretty good. It kinda looks like top gear meets jackass(the mtv show). I hope they make it to a large city(seattle, NY)every now and then. I think many people miss the fact the top gear also reminds car guys how classy car culture can be. It is not just about beating on cars and fun group moments.

I just do not see the point of making an American version of this show. Part of what makes Top Gear great is the british humor and view on cars.

Because the mixture of Jeremy, Richard, and James is the key. And the ability to run their unabashed "This car *really* sucks!" reviews. They find *any* flaw, and you will hear of it.

American TV won't let that happen. 1) They're wussies, because 2) How could a sponsor, such as Ford, allow them to bash the Mustang (in any form, in any way), like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O46E0gCF5os
and still have Mike Rowe come on the TV right after saying "Mustang! Drive one!"

This is VACANT in Top Gear on BBC. There's no sponsors, it's all giverment money. Therefore, they have free reign to say whatever they want about the cars they play with.

But the true ability of Top Gear to be the show it is is the ability for the three hosts (and their support staff) to get away with everything they do. What they say, how they play with the cars, the silly ways to compare vehicles (a train versus a motorcycle versus a car? Nice.)

I doubt an Americanized version of Top Gear is going to make it. Not unless they can *completely* have their way with the cars and then say "It sucks here, and there, and why would you buy it anyway?" without question. That, and they DON'T try to exactly copy BBC's. No Stig for example. That's just too much. I'll do the SIARPC, they can copy that. PLEASE don't be dropping pianos on cars, or jumping into caravans though.

I imagine it's gonna be like Iron Chef America. Ok-ish... But definitely NOT the original, and probably not the same 'goodness'.

I will watch a few, though, to be sure.

Nailed it right there. Each of the 3 hosts and their dynamic make the show work. If the people doing the US version can pull it off without the show feeling "dumbed down", it could work.
Still, hope this show lasts long enough to have a "International Top Gear VS" competition where the cast from each of their respective countries have team challenges in various locations around the world... And a "Stig family reunion" and track battle would be cool to see as well.

Shenanigans.

By saying *anything* public, you have negated yourself. The Stig doesn't talk or post anything unless it's completely private. Duh.
