HAhahahaha Thats not a bad idea at all. I actually thought of that many months ago, long before I had my bike. I took some quality pictures today, along with some of my friend and his (mobile and brand spankin' new!) Virago 250. We tookalot apart today and just did general tinkering to see how it works and what goes where. Alot of the good stock parts that I don't like for the look of the bike will go on ebay soon, after I let some of the guys at the yamaha forum have a go at it all.
anyhow, pichas!

my dad just stumbled on an 80' 850 special.. pretty nice bike
he had it running on 2 cylinders and after a little tinkering we got it going strong..

Pretty sweet build thread
Too bad you had to sell the 750, I adored that bike
I'll be watching the 1000 thread though
I'll start working on my bike some more once parts arrive and once i finish my car
I've already got my jacket picked out, tried it on and everything.

it looks like an older leather jacket but it has all the modern armor pads in the shoulders elbow and back. Costs 8 times as much as the bike

i want to find an xs750 to work on, clean up and bob it out. i would with my current xj, but i couldnt do that to my father who bought the bike in 87. maybe i'll make a yamatracker out of an xs650 or something i love old yami's
Don't worry Andy, I don't mind the old man talk
I've already got my helmet, but it was also a $1 helmet from a garage sale. Its in good shape, just dirty. I think it might be worthy it to get a better one though
As for gear, I refuse to ride this bike without appropriate gear. I've got my eye on a tan leather jacket at the Triumph dealer, with a back protector, armor, the works. I like being alive, and in one piece.
We are gonna spend alot of time building this bike exactly how I want it before I ride it anywhere.

So just be careful, especially if you have never driven around on a bike.
yea i loved the 750, but it went so i could pay for the 1000 upgrade
i got her on the road now, and she pulls hard!!! definately better than the 750 did...
the 750 was a 4 valve, the 1000 is only 2 valves.. but it still had about 20 more HP stock for stock

welcome to the bike club
Traded my 06 Honda Shadow 600 in for this 07 Honda VTX 1300.
Drive defensively and take nothing for granted. Especially cars pulling out in front of you..Biggest problem IMO

Gorgeous bike Chuck
Just from following by buddy around when we go places (his bike runs so he can ride it palces) I can see how much you have to focus. He keeps telling me that theres so much going on while hes on his bike that he can't not focus.
That being said, I can't WAIT to start riding... and to get my bike to start

I got hit while I lived in FL, and after I was able to ride again (took about 9 mos) I didn't enjoy riding after that. I sold my bike and got a boat. Much more suitable for down there. Now I'm living back in Ohio where the boat is nearly useless, but we've got a great thing called Amish country. Twisty, hilly roads for miles w/ very little traffic and stop signs. The biggest obstacles are making sure you don't hit any horse crap on the road and making sure you don't get so comfortable riding that you get overconfident. I had a great ride last weekend, but 300 miles on a lowered Sportster will beat you up a bit.

Even here though, I still ride w/ my lid, an armored coat, boots, and jeans. Honestly, I think it makes it even more enjoyable.
