First Motorcycle: The Krylon Kruiser

Yeah, I finally went and done it.

A while ago my buddy got himself a 2007 Yamaha Virago 250. I however, am a cheapskate, so I've been scouring the classifieds and whatnot for ubercheap bikes and today I found and bought one

its a 1982 Yamaha XS400. It doesn't run, but it does turn over. It just isn't sparking. The last owner thinks its the ignitor, if not then logic says check the coils next. Not too much work to get it to run.

The bike is in mostly rough shape. But I wanted a rough bike to tinker with, and heck for what I paid, its a deal and a half

$50

anyhow, pics. PS the seat and all look lopsided bec they are not mounted, just sitting there.

I'm sure your parents were over joyed of you getting another project, and a bike at that.

That is really cool! If i didn't have to drive my daughter to day care i would get a bike for commuting.

dang half of my Maxim 550 parts could fit on there.
Important check the bottom end of the mufflers they have small holes to let out condensation , if they are plugged up theyll rust up fast !

My parents didn't want me to get a bike until the garage was cleaned out, so until the garage is cleaned out, I don't own this yet For the time being its stored at a friend;s house.

This was just too good a deal to pass up.

As for being Goose Jason, by the time the II is finished, I'll be Goose AND Max

I can't wait to get this puppy runnin

Nice little project for $50! Good luck, hopefully it doesn't become a money pit like projects have for me in the past. Ride safe.

Great find Arin!

Not to sound like an old man, but make sure the bike is running correctly before riding it, buy riding gear, and WEAR A HELMET.

Don't make me dig up old vehicle accident photos from firefighting... you won't eat for a month.

Don't worry Andy, I don't mind the old man talk

I've already got my helmet, but it was also a $1 helmet from a garage sale. Its in good shape, just dirty. I think it might be worthy it to get a better one though

As for gear, I refuse to ride this bike without appropriate gear. I've got my eye on a tan leather jacket at the Triumph dealer, with a back protector, armor, the works. I like being alive, and in one piece.

We are gonna spend alot of time building this bike exactly how I want it before I ride it anywhere.

yes, invest in a helmet that costs more than you paid for the bike

are you saying your head is only worth 1 dollar?
I hope the garage sale one is snell rated

Def buy a new helmet. I've heard people recommend buying a new helmet even if it's dropped and has any sort of significant impact. More importantly, take your time and buy a good helmet that you like. You're much more inclined to wear your helmet, and it's much more likely to protect you if it's a good proper fit. Shiny side up, fists in the wind and all that good stuff.

Nice project, nice deal.
When (not if) you get it running, there's one golden rule to riding a street bike.
Ride like no one, and I mean no one, can see you.
A paranoid rider lives to ride again.

I've already noticed that no one sees you, just from being around Pete (NOT cntchds) when he's riding his. People suck

Looks like a new helmet is the way to go then.
