Are Domestic Automakers Facing The Perfect Storm?

Given these three factors...

- A slowing economy (sub prime woes, sliding housing market, etc.) and possible recession;

- Oil at $100 per barrel;

- New tough restrictions on emissions;

...are Detroit's automakers - already in difficult financial shape - facing a perfect storm in '08...and can they survive it?

Thoughts...?

I don't know if it is a "perfect storm", but I don't think any time period in the last 100 years have been a tougher time for US automakers.
