"The target this time is Ford Motor Co., which Christians should boycott as “the company which has done the most to affirm and promote the homosexual lifestyle,” the American Family Association says..."

Any thoughts?

Boycotts have never proven effective for any group. Its mainly political posturing to put pressure on a certain group.

Happens all the time with many groups and companies. Some cave in to the pressure, others don't.

It's completely retarded for any firm to be participating in ANY politically charged topic.

Heads should roll in management.

Very stupid move :notnice:

What's your point? All of the above is part of a basic business plan that would be affirmed by 98% of the shareholders.

Contributing to 'alternative' lifestyles would not.

It is a publicly traded company, after all.

I think Jack Frost means "moral" rather than "political", and I agree.

I understand the arguement you are putting across, but a companies investors can have their say (and they do each year) at an AGM. If the shareholders didn't like it, they would vote out the board and bring people in who do not hold the moral views of the previous board.

Agreed. Indeed, 'moral' is the right word.

And, ultimately, the 1000 bucks comes from the purchaser.

Were I to be purchasing a Jag, if I'm gonna put that kind of loot towards a cause, I'd much rather it go towards a more global cause: like hunger, poverty, heart disease, etc.

A 1000 dollars is A LOT of money.

It all comes down to one thing: money. If Ford (or whoever) can make money by appealing this group or that group, then so be it. It makes the shareholders happy.

Not to say I agree with it, but this really what it comes down to. The almighty buck.

Yes, they have higher then average incomes...but I don't see homosexuals as making up a large market segment for Jaguar.

So I can't see them making money off this.

I'd sooner say it's some executive hijacking the company for his/her own pet cause.

It's just not wise.

Yeah, go to their website and read some of their causes. It's completely insane. Stop companies from advertising on Desperate Housewives, South Park, NYPD Blue, Law and Order, and Medium. Medium for Christ's sake!! What the heck is wrong with Medium?!?! These are probably the same people who think medical treatment doesn't involve ever seeing any doctors. I'll pray hard enough and it'll go away! Sure, just like the people out in the caribbean who apparently didn't pray hard enough and were hit by the Hurricanes a couple of years ago. darn I hate Extremists. Especially when they go and teach their children to hate others because of their beliefs. Yeah, we'll see if they ACTUALLY get into Heaven with all that hatred.

EDIT: Sorry about the rant.

What is the AFA saying, that people who are gay and lesbian aren't human? You know their lifestyle definetley doesn't appeal to me but they are still people. Geez!

Someone needs to take the AFA out back and teach them some respect. Irony would be sending them to San Fran for a week

They are not idiots.. they just firmly stand up for what they believe is right, or they just want attention.
