There sytem SUCKs & they charge thier own fees on top of Customs CROOKS, so when something that already should be paid up & all delivery & duties they tack on thier own I Hate them hate is a strong word here.

two of my neighbors (neyberz) work for ups they seem to be supporting their families on the income. I would think its an alright place to work for if you can get in there full time.

I've worked for UPS for a little more than eight years as a part time package handler on the night shift at our local hub. I usually get about 24 hours a week in, and my hours are typically 10:30pm - 3:30am or so. It is very hard work, but most people can handle it if they just put there mind to it and stick it out long enough for their body to get used to it. Most people don't stick it out though, and our turnover rate is incredibly high. IIRC 75% of our new hires quit in the first six weeks and 90% are gone in the first six months.

Pay and benefits may vary slightly from one region to another, but they should be similar because of the union contract. Starting pay isn't great at only around $8.50/hr, but you can take a test that if you pass it you get an extra $1/hr. Benefits are great once you qualify, we pay nothing for health insurance premiums, and the coverage is great for my family. UPS pays up to $21k towards school tuition and that starts as soon as you are hired. We have a lot of students from OSU and other neighboring colleges working at my hub.

If you are looking at full-time work, you might have to wait awhile though. It is usually at least 3-5 years here, some smaller hubs may be quicker (or longer). Once you go full time the pay is very good, the drivers make great money (some of the truck drivers who have a lot of years in are making six figures). I watch my kids during the day while my wife works, which is one of the main reasons I haven't gone full-time yet. Once both of my kids are in school all day I'll probably go full time.

Have a buddy that works the night shift like ministang and he's doing quite well at it, you actually get paid to study to take the tests that make you more money, I found that funny lol. I'm sure they are both quite similar though
