Heard a NASA astronaut say that it was a good goal to be going back to the moon in 12 years, because Mars is too hard.
JFK said that "we are going to the moon, not because it is easy, but because it is hard."
that is the spirit we need to espouse rather than instant gratification and returning to somewhere we have already been.

I'm with you on most of that. JFK had the right attitude for sure, and someone like him could really kick start our space program

That being said, I am in favor of doing more moon stuff. Not because its a "substitute" for Mars, but because the moon still needs more human interaction.

I do have the problem with the idea of just "settling for" the moon. However... "settling on" has a nice kind of sound to it...

it definately does

burt rutan is the man, it's incredible the things he's accomplished. too bad steve fosset is dead now...
