Not to compare to those injured or who died on September 11th or since then as a direct result of the attacks but most caring Americans died a little bit that damned day.

It was my freshman year in high school. I was leaving second period gym going to my forth period english class. As I walked in the door a friend on mine told my a plane had crashed into one of the towers. We spent the rest of class listening to the radio. It wasn't until 6th period that it all actually sunk in. My teacher had a tvand wee watched what had happened. Once I saw the planes crash it hit me hard. I saw the planes hit the towers, the pentagon, and the story of flight 93 and it finally hit me and hit me hard.
That day shaped the much of the person I am today and I will never forget it. I will never forget the sacrafice so many Americans made to help their fellow American, the selfishness of those first responers, the men and women who stayed behind to make sure others got to saftey before them regardess of if they made it or not, the passengers who stood up to the terrorists in the face on death and took control.
I amy not know their names, I may not know who did what, but I will never forget them, never forget where I was, never forget what it meant, good and bad.

Anyone with much of a soul lost "something" on that day, to be sure. And unfortunately, like clockwork, our military men and women were once again attacked yesterday, keeping the battle "over there" just a little longer. How I wish they did not have to sacrifice so that we could take the "moral high road" being a kind, gentle superpower. But that is a topic for another discussion.
Planeswalker, thank you for your service. In another forum, I posted a link to a C-Span interview with an F16 pilot Penney who was one of the first in the air on 9/11. Her story is long, but worth a listen, especially when she recounts what her and her wingman were prepared to do on that day in defense of our nation. All I'll say is it was hard to listen to once she recounted how they were unarmed...which while everyone was talking about shoot-to-kill orders, nobody in the MSM was thinking about the logistics of that order. Thank God that people like this still exist in our nation.
