The screaming rear end gears would probably get on my nerves after a while. My '71 Super Bee had 4:56's and they were nearly impossible to live with. Great get-up-and-go though!
4.10's only add about 300-600 rpm to the manual's 3.55's rpm's at highway speeds.
At 60 mph, it's 2100 instead of 1800
70 mph, 2400/2100
80 mph 2400/2800
90 mph 3100/2700

It was 16.8 but it slowly dropped back with city stop-and-go. I don't know how these guys are getting 18-20. Must be more highway than us. I'm averaging anywhere from 23-29 mph.

The Super Bee orginally came with a 3-speed and 3:55 gears, but by the time I got the car, it sported a Hurst pistol-grip 4-speed shifter with 4:56 gears. I quickly swapped them out for the "street" gears. My buddy has a Road Runner with 4:10's and he manages well with it. The 4:10's are good all-around gears, but I prefer lower ratios for highway cruising.

Funny, I have been having this same argument in my head. My Camaro has 3:73 with a TH400 3 speed. It is OK but would't want to take a long trip in it or use it as a daily driver. The OD tranny should make the 4:10 liveable, but do I want that in my daily driver. Here I go again...

at what speeds would you honestly get close to the hwy 25mpg as stated? I usually cruise at 80mph, would I even get close to the 25mpg mark for Hwy?

My 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with the HEMI engine gets 11.5 mpg city and 12.5 mpg highway (driving about 80 mph).
I'll be very happy with the difference in my 06 Mustang GT!

I agree, at higher speeds mileage per gallon will decrease and then depending on headwinds or tailwinds.
I have the 4:10's in my Cobra RPM on that car at 80 is 3,000 was 2,400 with 3:27's.
I wanted 4:10's to easly spin the tires at cruises and to creep down the road at those events. The Woodward Dream Cruise turns into huge parking lot. But for just driving around the 3:27's where better in IMO.
