Why the New Camaro Will Fail
#21

its supposed to have 500 horse
i say...i doubt it will be rated at what the vette is...and that is even if they make it...

I looked at a 1996 Camaro before I bought my 1998 Mustang. Same reaction: the seating position was WAY too low, and the visibility out of the rear window sucked. I sat down and thought, "Forget it."
The Challenger will sell well, but not with the same numbers as the Mustang. Like the Camaro, its appeal and target mark is relatively small, i.e. women probably won't buy it.

I find it completely baffling that GM, on the ropes in the 9th round and struggling to stay afloat, would even consider such a project. The tooling costs for something like this are astronomical, and given their awful track record lately, it seems like the ultimate in ill-advised strategies. I guess if their stockholders will stand by and let it happen, they'll get what they deserve. In my opinion, GM should cut everything but trucks and SUVs and hope for divine intervention, since they seem to have no idea what their market is anymore. The one bright light I've seen in the last couple years is the Solstice, but with GM's recent track record, they'll probably pull the plug on that car before long. Seems like every time they start to get it right, they bail on the project......i.e. Fiero (finally turned it into a pretty nice little car after several years), Impala SS, etc. etc.

What I am saying is the thing doesn't hang together as a whole for me.
You look at an S197 - it seems like a complete uniformed design.
You look at a Vette - same thing.
The Camaro concept - looks (to me) like it can't decide exactly what it wants to be.
