The other "guy" was another dealer out of state and I don't know what the exact arrangements were between my dealer and the other one - only that they all told me it was sold and it was the sales manager that then revealed that funds had not been transferred and so it was "technically" for sale.

Incidentally, another local very reputable dealer (not the one that had "bought" the car had also previously confirmed they had heard it was sold so when I went to see the car, I had no idea a sale could even happen.

So under the circumstances I don't feel bad at all. It was for sure a lucky case of right-time, right-place!
