well without me knowing she picked up a 96 dodge avenger new motor and tranny and i know why too, the autozone speacials on this thing would make any mechanic lose faith in todays youth lol...but other than that and some usual michigan rust its not to bad, im just having trouble finding parts or forums for these first gen avengers anybody else here have one maybe feel like sharing some knowledge of typical problems and whatnot? thanks all have a good day, btw mustang is out and loving the sun, need tires soon lol i missed that about 300hp

who is She? To bad She didn't ask you first. Good thing is the new engine and trans. Usally the engine will go before the trans on those things from what I've seen.
How many miles are on it and how much did She pay?

Here are 2 forums that will help you.
http://asog.net/

I am a member of both and used to have a 98 Avenger and will be glad to help you out with questions.
These are nothing but Mitsubishi Eclipse with a Dodge body on them.
Any part on the 2nd generation eclipse will fit on the Avenger as well.
The most common thing everyone does is get a console from the eclipse and put it in, the console in the Eclipse looks much better than the one in the Avenger.
Common problem with Avengers are Tie rod ends, make sure to replace those on that car if they have not been replaced.
Bad news if they break!
Also rear wheel hub bearings tend to get noisy and go out.
If the car has the V6 in it there are not a lot of performance you can do to them other than swap it out for the V6 in the 3rd generation Eclipse.
If it has the 4 cylinder you can turbo charge them or get one out of an Eclipse that had the turbo engine and drop it in to the Avenger.
If you have any other questions let me know and I will be glad to help.
I liked my Avenger just hated the fact they are underpowered.

well she got it because of the new engine tranny combo and with rising gas prices the truck she drove didnt cut the mustard anymore, i didnt know about it till she comes home and says,"come here" and i went outside and seen it...i wouldent have gotten it do to the rust in the rockers and the autozone speacials, everything that can be blue...is blue..so since she is in collision repair and auto body, we are gonna fix it and do it up clean for her rolling advertisment
