This should be good. Dacia is a very popular car because of its price, but for the same amount of money people would probably be driving Toyotas.

You're probably right about that. However it has no effect on me because I'm not part of the market for new cars like that. I much prefer the Renault Megane which I'm going to check out when I move to Poland this summer, along with the BMW 1 series.
But the car I really want to find is a red 1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV.

Well, I'm originally from Romania (where the Logan is currently being built) and I know a thing or two about that car.
Firstly, a family friend has one and I had the chance to drive it once last summer, plus there are many Logan cabs in which I rode. For the money they cost new, I'd rather buy a second-hand Golf.
Secondly, speaking of the price, the original intent was to sell the car for EUR 5,000. That dream was quickly abandoned by Renault/Dacia and now the entry-level model is sold for EUR 6,400 in Romania (cheapest price in the EU).
Thirdly, I still to admit that currently there is no cheaper car in Logan's class in Europe and that make me doubt that Toyota will be able to bring out a car similar in size cheaper than the Logan. Maybe if they produce theirs in China or India, but still it would end up more expensive than the Logan once it reaches Europe (import tax will kill any competition for the Logan, especially now that Romania is part of the EU). Moreover, Toyota must also take into account Renault's plans to start manufacturing the Logan in India soon, which means that competition on the Asian market will be tough for them.
Anyway, I'm curious to see what Toyota can do.
By the way, there is a new Logan model that came out recently, the Logan MCV which is a station wagon, starting from EUR 8,200 in Romania. It's ugly, I know, but it gives competition an even harder time.

P.S.: for a better understanding of the prices, multiply EUR by 1.3 for the US$ equivalents. For comparison reasons, a new Golf V starts from EUR 13,400 on the Romanian market.
