Toyota getting educated, changing Tundra's model mix
Qiute a bit of spin in that report. Toyota did get the mix a bit wrong, but part of the problem is that some of the customers Toyota expected to sway weren't. 'Work truck' Tundra's, an area where Toyota had hoped to make serious inroads, may as well be riveted to the dealer lots. And while Toyota might be gearing up to produce more loaded crew cab models, a move which sound goods initially, a surprisingly high number of new Tundra customers are simply trading in their old Tundra or Tacoma. In other words a lot of these folks are just repeat customers which, while generally a good thing, leaves one wondering what is going to happen when all of the Toyota loyalists have their new trucks. This isn't like Ford and GM where there are a huge number of loyalists to shore up sales.
My guess is that sales will drop into the cellar after that portion of the consumer pool dries up, and every Tundra will have seriously large rebates attached.

Tundra is just too expensive to be used as a serious work truck. Have yet to see one here actually used for grunt work of any kind. Usually given the the "dub" or lifted treatment and have the Flow's thrown at them - anything but a work truck.
