The whole "bleed mustang" loyalty that it has is the reason that itll likely defeat the camaro again (i dont really include the challenger becuase even though everyone wants to compare it, it wont really be in the same league, even with the smaller V8 and V6).

The camaro could be a better car than the mustang in almost every way, but a lot of people just wont buy it cause they gotta have a mustang. Theres a lot more to making a popular car then simply making the car better than the competition. Marketing is huge, and thats where GM seems to have dropped the ball by delaying production for so long for whatever reasons.

It's a very arrogent comment by a big company similar to IBM back in the 80s and 90s regarding PCs. Now they're out of the PC business. That arrogence is a huge part of what took them out.

Better be careful Lutz, you'd hate to have people calling you a klutz.

We'll see. Land a V6 base model that is as comfortable to sit in for granny as it is for a 16 year old that you don't have to fall into and it will surely sell well. Which is the main reason the mustang had a sales edge on the F-twins bar none. V8 sales among the 2 are much less a disparity than were performance numbers between the 2. Not like base v6ers running around which is 2 to 1 (combined).

I think there are gonna be plenty of Chevy guys and Mopar guys to buy both the Camaro and Challenger. I think both cars will succeed in the first 2-3 years of production. Though I agree that the Mustang will remain the top sales leader I do feel that sales numbers of the Mustang are gonna drop quite a bit due to the competiton that they didnt have for so long. Chevy guys want their Camaro, Dodge guys want their Challenger. I, like some here have no loyalty to a particular brand and will be looking for the best overall package. As far as criticizing the styling of the car all i can say is that looks are subjective and though some dislike the car's styling it can't be dismissed because the Camaro has received a lot of popular press and many, including myself feel it is a very attractive car and unlike the current Mustang it is brand new. I love the current Mustang but it doesnt stand out for me anymore.....

I must also say that Lutz does sound a bit overconfident. I don't see the Camaro being head and shoulders much better than the Mustang. The car will probably have advantages over the Mustang because it is newer and has an actual target to improve on but i'm sure Ford will return with the same (hope we get an IRS, 6 speed stick and auto)

Camaro is little too late. All these RWD cars that were really popular (Mustang, 300C, Charger ...) aren't as popular as they used to be so I don't think Camaro will be that popular either.

Challenger's situation is even worse. They will make limited numbers in 2009 which means that full production will start in 2010.
In my opinion new Challenger will spend less time on the market than the old one.

Meh, probably because people dont associate RWD V8 cars with economy (even if by chance they actually got better mileage). Of course I'd have to point to the time Ford had developed this crazy little FWD chassis that they wanted to call Mustang....

I'm a huge fan of the new Camaro's styling on the outside but I saw a spy shot of the real deal interior and it is horrendous! I think the interior alone put me out of the running for a new Camaro! I mean YUCK! The more I think about it instead of buying a new car (10' Mustang, 09' Camaro or 09' Challenger) in the next year or two i'm now leaning towards buying a 07-09 GT500 more than ever!

The real deal interior isn't completed yet. In the latest round of spyshots you can see parts held on with duct tape.

Still looks like the dash is giving birth to the center console.

Duct taped or not...
The layout is hideous...

You may like it, but its not my cup of tea.

It would surprise me if people saw the interior, without a badge, and didn't know it was a camaro... how many would still like it?
