Taking up 2 parking spaces
#22
Try parking on city streets with idiots pulling in and out from the front or behind. My 02 is used by my fiance and has numerous marks on the bumpers.
I have a small one in the front on my 05, but only I seem to be able to see it. :bang: It happened a week ago on a DC street by the MCI center.
Makes me want to make something like the tugboats have and throw them up on all sides.

I'm with everyone else on here, no matter what car you have and how much you love it its wrong to take up 2 spots, unless you have an RV or something where you can't help it.
I think you will just make people more angry with you and are more likely to get vandalized by some punk who thinks they are teaching you a lesson. Just be glad it was a note and not a key down the side of your car. As much as none of us on here would ever do that there are plenty of people out there that would.

When I was much younger and in college, I drove a total POS 1976 Chevy Chevette. The body was total trash with about three shades of primer and some original color I never could figure out.
Anyway, I went to the mall once and there was a jerk that had his nice, new corvette parked diaginaly across two spots. He was away from the main group of cars by about 5 or 6 spaces, but it STILL pissed me off. I figured if he could park like a jack **** in HIS vette, then I could park like a jack **** in MY vette too!
So I just pulled in next to him. There was about 2" of clearance between his drivers side and my passenger side. I did NOT touch is car in any way.
When I came out, he was gone, so I know he crawled in through the passenger side and there no new damage to my beater (which was DEFINITELY for the better as I had wrote down his plates before I left. And I had a friend that would have been happy to look up his name and address for me if I needed it...).
I have no IDEA if he learned anything, but I sure felt better.

I see nothing wrong with taking up two spaces as long as three conditions are met:
1. The parking lot is NOT crowded.
2. You park back a few rows so that you're not taking up "prime" spaces.
3. The car is completely visible to you at all times or someone is in the car waiting for you to return. Gotta watch out for ****** who want to "teach you a lesson" (jealously) even though you're not disrupting their life in the slightest sense.
Obviously, I usually only do this when I am eating out and I can see the car from my table or if I'm running into a not-so-nice store and someone's waiting for me in the car. I rarely do it with the '05, but I always do it on the rare occasions that I take my '67 Shelby GT 500 out, which is usually for a dinner at a restaurant.

I personally do not take up two places.
If someone wants to, that's fine.
As long as it's out in BFE. And I mean way out.
I go out of my way to park as far away as I can not only from cars, but the the general public as well, in which case it's pointless to take up two.
But, being that if you put 50, 60, or 100 spaces between yourself and the next car in the lot should not pee anyone off no matter how you choose to park.
Don't get me wrong, If your in a situation where you only have a handfull of spots between BFE and the next car, you have to use your head and be mindfull of other people coming in after you. Use your judgement
I will never park next to another car or any where near a shopping cart corral. I will park in the next business over or go home. It's not worth it.

Taking up two parking spaces is asking for more trouble than it prevents in my opinion. Even if you park way it it draws the wrong kind of attention. Ive seen people get pissed off when others do it and intentionally park too close to the car, throwing things at it, rolling carts at it, and generally being a pain in the rear. (i worked at wal mart in high school gathering carts and have seen it all)
If you are that concerned about it just park way out somewhere and use a single space. No cars will come close if you are far out so no need for 2 spaces and you wont attract morons. Why, if you are 20 rows from the nearest cars do you need to take up two spaces? No car is ever going to park next to you. If one does its because they think you are a moron for parking far out and taking up two spaces would just pis them off more.

Perhaps if you put your NRA and Glock stickers on your car they would hesitate to put nasty-grams on your car.
