Some Friendly Competition from Dodge?
#1
Has anyone heard about some potentially serious Mustang competition coming from Dodge next spring, the 2006 Charger? From information leaking out of Daimler Chrysler (DC), the new Charger is based on the LX platform (the 300C and the Dodge Magnum platform), somewhat styled after the classic Bullitt Charger, and comes with either a 5.7 or a 6.1 Hemi, with 345 and 420 hp. A convertible Charger is also very likely, according to this site. (http://www.allpar.com/cars/lx/dodge-charger.html). There is a convertible 300C in progress, according to Motor Trend.
Popular Hot Rodding has given some ink to a photoshopper who has put together some images based on leaked info and the LX dimensions:

I’m no Dodge fan, but this sure looks like Dodge is taking the same path Ford has with the Mustang, and it could steal some Mustang sales from Ford.
Hope Ford prices the stang competitively.

those images don't look anything like the production car.
First off, there will be a 4-door.. I don't know if a 2-door will make it into the lineup,
This car won't be a competitor to the Mustang IMO, it is too big, although it does have a lot of power, the weight will come into factor

It's heck of a lot better looking than the "poser" GTO. From the front angle it does not remind me of the classic Charger. The rear angle is nice and appropriate. Has tons of potential for Dodge die hards. I am not one of them

maybe in the future,
as far as I know, there will only be a 4-door to start.
The plant that builds the charger may be building a 2-door convertible in the future off the same platform, if that is the case, then a Charger coupe will be possible.

Anyone want to slap in a Confederate flag and an 01 decal on the Charger on the top pic?
