The body of the A8, is all-aluminum, correct? That looks like it could simply be unpainted & polished.

Agreed, Audi has done concepts with polished aluminum bodies before, and the look was basically identical (allowing for lighting, etc...) to that A8. So without any hard evidence otherwise I'd have to say this is:

1) Real
2) Polished Aluminum, not Silver.

Airplanes look good when they're polished like that. Cars do not. But it's interesting to see by the image in the reflection how well the car is assembled. Beautiful execution of a very questionable idea.
