In Automobile's October issue, they have a section named The 100 Coolest Cars the #3 car happens to be Shelby Cobra. The 2005 GT is #77

ya, #77... the 360 modena was ahead of it.. how does that work? It doesn't look as cool, it doesn't go as fast, and its more expensive.

#1 was the 63-67 Vette. The Shelby GT350 made it, as did the late 60's Camaro SS and the 69 Chevelle SS396. Buick GNX also made it.

As for the new Ford GT only making #77, consider that it's not even out yet. Also, look at where the classic GT40 made the list, albeit in Mark III guise. How about two Citroen's in the Top 10-15. That's far more objectionable than the new GT's ranking.

I haven't received my issue yet either. As much as I like some Citroens, I find it hard to believe that they would be ranked above the GT or Ferrari. But hey, that's a subjective choice.

I have always loved the Shelby Cobra. There was one at a local car show--aluminum body, perfect condition. The owner had bought it used in LA for $4500.

Here's the top 5 (In ascending order): 1960's Citroein DS, early 1950's Jaguar XK120, 1950's Shelby Cobra, Porche 911, and the top car is...163-67 Cheverolet Corvette Sting Ray, as Q'res stated.

Pretty crappy top 5 excluding the Corba, Corvette and 911.

I've gone over that article several times, and they got most of my favorites in there, though not necessarily in the order I would have chosen. I love to look at the pics of the old cars--some bring back some great memories.

Automobile is my favorite magazine. If they have any bias that I've detected since the first issue it's that they like cool cars. Period.
