A question for you insiders out there.

I've cruised this message board and found some great ideas for a RWD performance sedan. The 427 concept, the Aussie Falcon, etc.

I've been driving a Mustang for years, but the better half wants something the whole family can fit into. I of course would prefer an '06 Mustang GT, but that's another story...

Anyway, does anybody know if Ford plans to produce a RWD sport sedan with decent performance, and if so what kind of timeline?

If they don't get the 06 GTo, 400hp, new body kit, 4 full size bucket seats....

Here are the RUMORS....RUMORS of course...

Anyways, the rumor is Ford will build the next generation Falcon off of the stretched Mustang platform. They are saying Ford will build the next GEN for Australia Ford, because they are not able to ship their Falcon to America.

This is my twist on it though: Ford will build the Falcon for America, but then allow Aussie to use the stretched Mustang platform for their next GEN Falcon. See, they have expectations to live up too for the next Falcon, so they must design it...that is my thinking....

Anyways, if this is true, think Lincoln LS that is able use the 4.6 with undoubtedly 427 styling. The 427 styling is Fords new design direction, and I'm expecting all of the future Ford sedans to have that type of styilng... It would be one hot sports sedan. Oh and don't think the Aussie's would have better powerplants, because they use our powerplants. So I'm sure the car would be a sweet ride.

That would be cool to see!

I think Ford is waiting and watching the GTO's downward spiral towards failure before bringing a RWD sedan out. Granted it could be a great success but not if it is done the same way GM developed the Monaro into a GTO.

I'm still hoping to see them develop a RWD 2 seater to compete with the Corvette / M3 / Boxster S in the same price/performance market.

Thanks.

I hope your right. That sounds like it might have potential.

I'll be passing the '98 Coupe to my son in two years (I'm really not that old..lol). Maybe something will be in the pipeline by then if not on the showroom floor. An American Falcon with 427 design cues and V8 power should do well with proper marketing etc. It would be great competition for Chrysler's 300.

BTW...I feel your pain...My first new vehicle was a 1986 F-150 Stepside. It was a great ride.

Just read something...

The next gen (the one that both the US and Europe will get) Focus that comes out in 08-09 will take cues from the 427 concept...
