New Chevy Camaro Show Gets Cancelled
The show staring Chritian Slater "My Own Worst Enemy" has already been cancelled by NBC. His vehicle of choice was the new Camaro. I haven't seen the show, and apparently neither has anyone else.
NBC is in trouble right now...in a distant last place vis-a-vis the other networks.
Camaro may go down the tubes, too. The convertible version has already been postponed indefinitely (aka cancelled).

GM doesn't have enough operating capital to get through '09, never mind '10. I would say that ALL "a go" projects are now officially "pie in the sky." GM's ONLY hope of survival is a government rescue, and from what I'm reading there will be many strings attached to it if it comes at all - chiefly the elimination of high performance niche vehicles in favor of "greener" cars.
I think that's a little like discussing decorating the kitchen while the house is burning down around you.

A ready made US dealership network, the best known and most popular car brand in China, and the production facilities to produce any cars currently sold in China under the Buick badge (ironically enough giving a newly Chinese Buick better product than we get here in the United States since it would include Zeta platform cars) Honestly, I think it would be difficult to put a number on the value some of that would hold for the budding Chinese automakers. In fact, a number as large as 25 billion or so wouldn't surprise me since the real value here lie with the possibilities owning Buick would bring a Chinese auto maker and not so much with the tangibles. If they have to make those potentially purchasable advancements the old fashioned way it will take them years, if not decades, and cost them many, many billions of dollars to get to where simply buying Buick would take them almost instantly.
The only problem I see here is the argument that the whole of Chrysler could be bought for far less right now more than likely. But, offering GM far more than Buick is worth could be a way for one of the several Chinese automakers to be certain that they end up with 'the prize' where waiting for the opportunity to buy Chrysler leaves open the possibility that another automaker could outbid you. Unfortunately, even if somebody at GM were smart enough to work such a scenario there are two problems with it.
1: Buick is the only GM brand that could realistically be used to spearhead a mainstream, volume revival which still has both credibility and major recognizability. Saturn is still too small and therefore lacks the ability to move enough units to accomplish the above and both Chevy and Pontiac are effectively bankrupt in terms of image.reputation as far as the mainstream auto market goes. A big part of the reason Malibu and G8 are both struggling can be traced directly to the badges on their respective grillework. Buick may be seen as an old man's car, but it still retains a bit of an entry level luxury feel and they are generally thought of as decent reliable cars.....neither of those things can be said about Chevy or Pontiac
2: Unless major changes occur at GM, and by this I mean within their management, all twenty or thirty billion dollars is going to do is delay bankruptcy. GM likes to act as though they have fixed their problems, the reality is that they aren;t even close.
wow...Knight Rider is still on...I cant beileve that it outlasted this show.
Apparently Knight is getting a complete redo for it's next season. You gotta love shows that are Exec and sponsor favorites: they'll survive through multiple iterations before getting the plug pulled when better shows get canned at the slightest hint of "under performing."
