My Experience on Pass Time the Game Show (kinda long)
Well, I went to Memphis this week to be a contestant on "Pass Time", formerly called "Name That Test and Tune" for Speed Network. It was an interesting time, even though I did not get a chance to be a contestant on the show. They ran out of cars for the night of filming I was suppose to be on, so I am getting a free plane ticket to Bradenton Florida next month for the next taping! Woo hoo!!
Anyway, they put me up in the Sam's Town casino/hotel in Tunica MS, about 30 minutes south of Memphis. That was NICE since it gave me something to do on the first night (thursday) that they did not take me to be filmed. I won $50 on a $.25 slot machine on the very first pull of the night. Then I played some video poker at the bar and got free Bud Lights all night as long as I was playing. Needless to say...I played a lot. I played for about 6 hours, and ended the night down $15 and took them for about 15 free beers. I think I won even though I technically lost $15. Anyway, I digress....
The next day, Friday me and 9 others were taken to Memphis Motorsports Park and once everything finally got set up, they started taping episodes of the show. If you aren't familiar with the show, here is the basic premise: 2 contestants + a "Resident Expert" as the third contestant compete to guess the closest to the actual E.T. of a drag car. The car pulls up, driver exits, and tells a little about the car. Each contestant asks one specific question about the car (nitrous? gears? racing experience? tires? etc..) Then the car makes a pass and the closest guess wins the round. After 8 rounds or so, person with the most money takes the other two contestants money, for a winner take all....$2,000 total.
The other contestants that were selected, and about 100 other race fans that just happened to be there that night were all in the audience behind the contestants being taped. We all had dry erase boards and a marker to help play along and guess our own times. It was really a lot of fun! The host, Brett Wagner (Schwag from Monster Garage) was great. He was pretty funny, and really made the show fun.
Me and another guy were just getting ready to go up to the stage when they figured out that they had run out of cars. Since each car there that night had already run once, and the "resident expert" who is on each show trying to keep us from winning the money, had already seen them run. To keep it fair, they couldn't run again....so no game show for me that night. I did write TheMustangSource.com on my white board for the world to see while I was in the audience!
They promised me I would be taped next month in Florida, so I'm definitely going. I think I need a TMS T-Shirt to wear on the show...waddaya think Brad?? Maybe another sponsor t-shirt to wear while I'm in the stands behind the contestants?? I'll do it proud I swear!! Alright, enough soliciting and rambling.

I wish you would have heard about it, you could have brought your car out and ran it. They needed some more cars so I could have been on the show!! Oh well, I get a plane ticket and hotel room in Florida now, so it works I guess.

Schwag was pretty funny. He was making fun of a kid with a V6 camaro and a big homemade looking sheet metal spoiler. It was good times.

It's odd that I didn't hear it on any of my local boards. Hell everytime my Fbody club and the local SCT club get together there well over 50 cars. Then of course these several others as well. Doh oh well.
