Mazda plans new turbo RX-7

Mazda is planning a turbocharged successor to the much-missed RX-7 that could arrive as soon as 2013.
The new RX-7 — which could be called RX-9, according to insiders — will retain the rotary Renesis technology employed by its predecessors and the RX-8.

They've got to bring that turbo back. And get rid of that silly looking 3rd door on the RX-8.
RX-7 turbo is sorely missed in the import segment as far as I'm concerned right now.

That would be cool, perhaps more 1st or 2nd gen in spirit than the excellent performing but expensive and unreliable 3rd gen.
I'm with you on the smiley face. It kills the look of the cars, especially when they're supposed to look mean. I can't help but want to pat the new MazdaSpeed on the head with that face.
Thankfully Nagare is dead, which in turn means future Mazda vehicles will not be doing their best imitation of Ledger's Joker. Supposedly the upcoming Mazda 5 refresh will be the last blast for Nagare.
If pricing is competitive with the Mustang, it may be difficult for me to choose between the two even if it were strictly a 2-seater like the US 3rd gen FD. Can't wait to see what this looks like.
