looking for a roomy convertible

Looking for constructive thoughts and suggestions.

Looking for a convertible with a roomy back seat for the kids - decent gas mileage and performance, and preferrably FWD. Oh yes, and the budget is 20k or below.

Now, a Mustang vert is nice, but the rwd and small back seat are deal breakers, so that's out.

I will not buy a Japaneese car - scratch those.

Option 1:
I have found a new PT Cruiser GT (230hp Turbo) Convertible. Now, Im not a PT fan really; however, it meats all the criteria. Quite roomy in the back, good fuel mileage (20-27), FWD, and the turbo moves pretty well. I have researched this car and it has gotten some very nice reviews all around. Car stickers for 30k, and I have them down to 20k. After driving this car, I have to say it's a blast with that 230 hp turbo motor. Crank up the boost and I'd have a nice little sleeper.

Option 2:
A low mileage Sebring vert. Bigger trunk than the PT, but less performance from the 2.7 V6. I like the looks of the Sebring better, but for some odd reason that goofy looking PT has me leaning that direction.

Here's a link, give me your thoughts and be kind for Pete's sake.

those are really the only choices for the criteria.....The sebring would be bigger....and probably cheaper.....I see them go gor 12-15 with 20K miles all the time....the PT I think looks funny with only two doors...plus the window controls are on the dash which is wierd...

Only other choice I can think of for that price is VW Beetle.

IMO, a great choice would be a 2004 Volvo C70 convertible. It should meet your needs-- they are around $20k and have decent rear seat room for kids. I think they look pretty good, and the interior is nice. Check them out at Edmunds. http://www.edmunds.com/used/2004/vol...2/options.html
