Much more than an exotic vision of the future, the Lexus LF-A represents a renewed focus on passionate styling and advanced performance technology. This concept vehicle is like no sports car Lexus has ever built, or even imagined. The LF-A is a premium showcase of space-age materials, advanced technology and brute strength, all with the refinements of a Lexus.
By joining Formula One, we've made a long-term commitment to the science of performance engineering. To get a better look at the LF-A, view its official auto show unveiling video here. Or for an in-depth perspective, the multimedia microsite allows you to view video footage showcasing several innovative features.
The rumors alone are enough to get any auto enthusiast's heart racing, but the facts are even more exhilarating. This two-seater will pack a punch with power estimated in the 500-horsepower range and possess an engine with less than 5.0 liters of displacement. The LF-A may refuse to drive in the slow lane and rightfully so. In combination with a target weight of less than 3,000 pounds, its robust powerplant will propel the LF-A to a top speed in the neighborhood of 200 miles per hour.
These specs express a bold new direction for Lexus. Performance numbers like these align closely with the company's Formula One commitment to achieve superiority over its rivals in speed, quickness, agility and reliability.
Over the last two years, Lexus has embraced a new styling philosophy called L-Finesse. This new design language is based on the contrast between simplicity and luxury with a look that's dynamic, forceful and vigorous. It may sound complicated, but it's really rather simple. Simplicity in form and function is styling that's uncluttered and void of extraneous elements, revealing pure Lexus streamlined style.
Whether or not the LF-A one day graces our showrooms, the effect of L-Finesse can be seen today. Case in point, the all-new GS. This exceptional vehicle is the epitome of the L-Finesse design philosophy. The GS sets a new course for the entire Lexus brand, from how it looks, how it feels and how it works. It is the first Lexus to offer Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) [1], a system which integrates braking, steering, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) [2] and Traction Control (TRAC) systems to help minimize loss of traction in a turn.
The new IS will further drive home the L-Finesse design philosophy. This second-generation IS sport sedan will clearly define an exciting new breed of luxury high-performance sedans from Lexus. The new IS boasts an unmistakable swagger in its style with exceptional performance to match.
The LF-A concept vehicle is a bold indication that Lexus isn't just a forward-thinking company, it's a future-thinking company.
