Maybe Bonneville would be a better since, since that was a long running name by Pontiac.

Pontiac Monte Carlo would sound just too weird.

Personally, if it were me, I'd redesign the sheet metal and put a bowtie on it and call it Monte Carlo.

This was actually going to happen, sort of. We were slated to get a new Holden-based Caprice. But based on the slightly larger Statesmen, whereas the G8 is the smaller Commodore. That plan got axed a good bit before the G8 even went on sale.

Impala is your best bet turn the gxp into the impala ss it already outperforms the current by miles I think this would actually be a pretty decent car if they don't fub it up to much...

On the brand note pontiac is dead probably and if gm isn't wise enough to kill off GMC/Hummer/Saab they don't deserve to exist IMO .... also they should really merge saturn and buick because saturn was nothing more then a marketing idea that they dont have the money for and it actually has the image that they have been pouring money into buick forever in an attempt to make (instead of grandpas car)... Honestly if they took the money and killed off those four and turned pontiac into the performance brand where the excitement lives then they would be a pretty good company IMO.

In a perfect world pontiacs lineup would be the current solstice, g8/gxp rebadged and resheetmetled slightly to form a GTO, rebadged camaro as a firebird, and then maybe turn the g6 into a grand prix and have that be the only low end.

If this is how they restructured it would leave chevy, pontiac (performance), buick (china/mid step to caddy), caddy (luxury). Would do wonders for them I think and save a hell of a lot of money.

You want a GTO and Firebird in the same lineup, based on the same platform? That's a horrible idea, seriously.

Anyway, here it is, the GM master plan:
  • Focus on "core brands": Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac
  • Launch predominately high mileage, energy-efficient cars and crossovers
  • Sell Saab, HUMMER
  • Sell or kill Saturn
  • Reduce Pontiac to a "niche" brand
  • Trim dealerships from 6,450 to 4,700
  • Reopen talks with UAW to cut manufacturing costs further
  • Reduce total workforce from 96,000 to 65-75,000
  • Negotiate with lenders, remove $35.6 billion in debt

Yep, 'cept they need to squash GMC's consumer division (or kill further Chevy trucks and SUVs and simply sell GMC trucks at Chevy dealers)...restrict Buick to China...and kill Pontiac so that it's DEAD, DEAD, DEAD.

Company only needs Chevrolet and Cadillac in North America anymore. Bring the Sky roadster over as a Chevy from now on. Same notation with the G8. Make it a Chevy Impala SS or something like that.
